Overall Responsibility:

The Applications, Data & BI Developer is responsible for supporting the development, enhancement, and maintenance of internal applications, data workflows, business intelligence solutions, and integrations across the organization. Working closely with the Business Systems Manager, this role contributes to ensuring that systems, data pipelines, and reporting tools effectively support operational, financial, and manufacturing business needs.

The Developer will work across multiple technologies—including .NET MVC, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, and Python—to improve existing systems, deliver new functionality, and ensure the availability, reliability, and integrity of business data and applications. This role partners with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions and ensure ongoing operational support.

Accountabilities:

Application Development & Enhancements

  • Design, develop, and enhance .NET MVC applications, including models, controllers, repositories, and services.
  • Implement new data fields, validation rules, workflows, UI elements, and business logic based on operational requirements.
  • Refactor and optimize application code to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Ensure solutions comply with internal coding standards, security frameworks, and system architecture guidelines.

Data Engineering, Reporting & Analytics

  • Design and maintain SQL Server databases, including tables, views, indexes, queries, and stored procedures.
  • Develop and refine Power BI semantic models, datasets, dashboards, and paginated reports.
  • Optimize data models and SQL logic to support data accuracy and reporting performance.
  • Prepare structured data extracts and system interfaces for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support data quality initiatives through validation, reconciliation, and resolution of data issues.

Workflow Automation & System Integration

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Azure Data Factory pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and scheduling.
  • Support and extend Python-based automation processes and data workflows.
  • Implement and maintain system integrations using APIs, structured data mappings, and transformation rules.
  • Monitor automated processes such as SQL Agent jobs, ADF triggers, and Power Automate flows to ensure reliability and timely execution.

Collaboration, Delivery & Change Management

  • Work directly with business users, analysts, and IT team members to gather requirements and refine enhancement requests.
  • Translate business needs into clear technical designs and implementation plans.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing; provide UAT support to stakeholders.
  • Participate in release and deployment processes across development, test, and production environments.
  • Document application changes, data models, workflows, and technical procedures.

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide ongoing support for applications, data workflows, reporting solutions, and integrations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data accuracy, system performance, integrations, and reports.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for automation, standardization, or system optimization.
  • Ensure solutions meet organizational standards, cyber-security requirements, and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education

  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications or coursework in .NET, SQL, Azure, or data/analytics tools are considered an asset.

Experience

  • Experience with C#, SQL, or similar technologies through work experience, co-op, or personal projects.
  • Exposure to application development, data engineering, or business intelligence/reporting environments.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, version control (Git/Azure DevOps), and structured testing.
  • Experience in Agile or iterative development environments is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in C# and ASP.NET MVC or .NET Core.
  • Strong SQL capabilities with experience writing queries, joins, and stored procedures.
  • Familiarity with Power BI dataset and report development, including paginated reports.
  • Basic understanding of Azure Data Factory pipelines and Python scripting.
  • Understanding of REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, and CSV data structures.
  • Experience using version controls tools (Git/Azure DevOps)

Compensation Package:

  • Salary range: $100,000 - $110,000 annually
  • Variable Bonus potential
