Job Summary:
First Tek, Inc. is seeking a Data Analyst 3 to provide data analysis for quality assurance testing and support settlements calculations. The role involves documenting data flow diagrams, developing databases for power market analyses, and collaborating with various BPA organizational partners.
Responsibilities:
• Provide data analysis for quality assurance testing efforts related to BPA Settlements data.
• Provide data analysis to support settlements daily, weekly and monthly calculations.
• Document data flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams and other project deliverables.
• Provide PL/SQL databases (queries, functions, stored procedures)
• Produce excel macros using VBA coding
• Coordinate with TSRE, TORI, PTMA, and other BPA organizational partners including BPA consultants.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of higher-level activities of wholesale electric transmission customers in the western states as context for the goals of market, consumer, and business analysis.
• Develop a working familiarity with essential databases that support Transmission product analyses including OASIS reservations system, scheduling and other transmission operations data, generation sources, curtailments data, generation interconnection information, customer oriented data, etc.
• With appropriate data analytic modeling, develop databases that enable analyses of power markets and BPA's Transmission products and services.
• Translate data quality and architecture issues to both technical and non-technical teams.
• Work with business partners to understand business needs, design data models and develop specifications for analytical reports and data visualizations.
• Develop and design functional and technical requirements for Business Analytics projects.
• Perform logical data modeling and physical data modeling.
• Conduct data modeling sessions with business users and technical staff, which include conveying complex ideas both verbally and in written form.
Qualifications:
Required:
• A degree in Information Technology, Business Systems, Computer Technology or a closely-related technical field such as Data Analytics is preferred.
• With an applicable Bachelor's degree, 6 yrs of experience is required.
• With an applicable Associates degree, 8 years of experience is required.
• Without an applicable degree, 10 years of experience is required.
• Experience must include direct work experience in Information Technology performing Data Analysis.
• 5 years of application of skills to analyses of markets, business analyses, and consumer products and services analyses Knowledge of Data Warehousing techniques, terminology, implementation and ETL (Extract, Transform & Load).
• 5+ years of statistical analysis or data analysis experience.
• 2+ years of data analytics applied to analyses of markets, business to business products and services, and consumer products and services.
• Demonstrated experience designing physical and logical data models.
• Prefer experience using the Erwin Data Modeling tool.
• Experience using enterprise data modeling tools.
• Experience should include relational and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with identification and evaluation of data quality issues.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
Preferred:
• Experience with Market Analysis or Product Management teams, especially those dealing with evolving customer and business needs.
• Ability to conduct data modeling sessions with business users and technical staff, which includes conveying complex ideas both verbally and in written form.
• Ability to understand database management system administration with regard to performance, configuration, and de-normalization.
