Job description

Job Title: Data & Reporting Analyst 

Location: Southfield, MI (Fully in-person)

Job type: Full Time

Role Summary 

The Data & Reporting Analyst is responsible for transforming complex operational, clinical, and financial data into clear, actionable insights that drive decision-making. This role requires deep expertise in Excel and experience working with healthcare reporting systems, with Athena reporting experience preferred. The analyst serves as a trusted partner to operations and leadership by owning reporting accuracy, performance analysis, and insight generation across the organization. 

Key Responsibilities 

Reporting & Analytics 

  • Design, build, and maintain standardized and ad-hoc reports using advanced Microsoft Excel techniques, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, Power Query, and data models.
  • Analyze operational, clinical, and financial datasets to identify trends, risks, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all reporting outputs.
  • Develop recurring reports to support leadership, operations, and performance management needs.

Performance Monitoring 

  • Track and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), service-level agreements (SLAs), and operational thresholds.
  • Identify drivers of performance variance and surface root causes.
  • Support development and maintenance of scorecards, dashboards, and executive summaries.
  • Proactively flag performance risks, outliers, and negative trends.

Data Interpretation & Storytelling 

  • Translate complex data into clear, concise narratives that explain performance and operational impact.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations alongside reports.
  • Partner with operational leaders to contextualize data and align insights with workflows and business processes.
  • Support leadership decision-making by answering the “why,” not just reporting the “what.”

Process Improvement & Automation 

  • Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, and improve reporting processes.
  • Reduce manual reporting effort and improve timeliness and scalability of reporting outputs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by supplying accurate, timely, and relevant performance insights.
  • Document report logic, definitions, assumptions, and data sources.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Support 

  • Collaborate with operations, clinical leadership, finance, and project teams to understand reporting needs and priorities.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests from leadership with clarity and urgency.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Excel-based reporting and performance analytics.
  • Maintain strong working relationships across departments to ensure alignment and trust in reporting.

Required Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of advanced Microsoft Excel experience, including pivot tables, advanced formulas (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested logic), Power Query, and large dataset management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Experience building, maintaining, and analyzing complex operational and performance reports.
  • Athena reporting experience preferred, including operational, clinical, or financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
