Hourly Wage: $30.00

PURPOSE: The Energy Data Analyst Intern will support strategic decision-making by transforming energy and business data into clear, accurate and useful reports. This position will develop data models, dashboards and visualizations that help DPC understand performance, identify trends and make informed decisions. The position advances DPC's strategic priorities, particularly financial strength, growth and innovation and our safety culture.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Design, build and maintain interactive dashboards/scorecards for energy, financial and operational analysis. Develop clear, effective data visualizations that help technical and nontechnical users understand trends, performance drivers and business results. Create and maintain Power BI semantic models using STAR schema and dimensional modeling principles. Connect, clean, transform and organize diverse datasets of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources. Develop DAX measures, calculated columns and key performance indicators that accurately reflect business definitions and reporting requirements. Work with staff and other business partners to gather reporting requirements and translate business questions into practical analytical products. Review and validate reports, calculations and source data to ensure accuracy, consistency and reliability. Identify trends, variances and unusual results in energy and business data and clearly communicate relevant findings. Create and maintain documentation for data sources, business definitions, calculations, report logic and user instructions. Present completed dashboards and analytical findings to technical and nontechnical audiences. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience: Currently pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate degree in data analytics, information systems, business analytics, data science, statistics, or another related field.

Skills:

  • Experience developing reports or dashboards in Microsoft Power BI

  • Understanding effective data visualization practices

  • Foundational knowledge of relational data, data tables and relationships

  • Ability to analyze data, recognize trends and communicate findings clearly

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to gather requirements and work with individuals from varied technical and business backgrounds

  • Ability to manage confidential information

  • Ability to work independently with guidance and manage multiple priorities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience using DAX to create measures, calculations and key performance indicators

  • Understanding of report performance optimization, row-level security and Power BI publishing practices
