Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): 

Seeking a reliable, dance student to serve as a Classroom Assistant for Dance 100. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in classroom management, work closely with faculty and students, and deepen your understanding of dance.

Transferable Skills:

Develop mentorship relationships with faculty and interact with a diverse group of students.

Enhance your understanding of dance pedagogy and classroom management.

Potential opportunities to gain teaching experience by leading classroom activities or dance labs.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Attend all scheduled class meetings and remain for the entirety of the session (ability to arrive 5 minutes early is a plus).

Actively and enthusiastically participate in dance labs, contributing to a positive and engaging learning environment.

Manage and operate music for dance lab activities.

Assist the instructor with classroom setup, including the computer and projector and run slides during lectures (includes PPT and video)

Accurately track and record student attendance.

Interact with the professor, students, guests, and department members with discretion and professionalism at all times.

Opportunities to lead portions of classroom activities or dance labs if desired and based on experience.

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

Reliable and on time: Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.

Excellent communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Professionalism and discretion: Ability to conduct oneself in a mature, respectful, and confidential manner.

Must be able to attend all class meetings and stay for the entire class period (arriving 5 minutes early is a plus).

Enthusiastic participation in dance labs.

Experience or willingness to learn how to run music for dance labs.

Familiarity with basic classroom computer and projector setup.

Proficiency in using PowerPoint.

Ability to manage and play video content.

Ability to accurately track attendance.

Physical and Environmental Factors:

This position requires crouching, kneeling/crawling, stooping, twisting/pivoting, and reaching overhead to perform the essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
