ASSISTANT DANCE COACH - SHEDEVILS
REPORTS TO: Athletics Director
PAY TYPE: Stipend, Non-Supervisory
PAY RATE: Based upon the WLCSC Master Teacher Contract (see attachment)
BENEFITS: Not eligible
SCHEDULE: Seasonal; Hours vary based upon practices, events, and program needs

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists in developing and instructing high-quality dance routines, techniques, and choreography for the SheDevils dance team
  • Creates a safe, positive, and inclusive environment that encourages athletic growth, teamwork, and school spirit
  • Supervises student-athletes during practices, home/away games, pep rallies, and competitive events
  • Collaborates effectively with the Head Coach and athletic department staff to support student success and program goals
  • Promotes sportsmanship, academic excellence, and professionalism among team members as representatives of the West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Education, Training, and Experience Required:
    • Must meet all head coaching requirements established by the IHSAA & IDOE
    • Strong background in dance (jazz, pom, hip-hop, lyrical, etc.) and experience coaching or participating at the high school or collegiate level preferred
    • Completion of InSideOut Initiative training required (or willingness to complete upon hire)
    • Displays excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
    • Displays a positive, enthusiastic, and motivating attitude toward student-athletes
    • Ability to work collaboratively as a part of a coaching staff and athletic department
    • Displays strong organizational skills, dependability, and punctuality
    • Commitment to mentoring students and fostering a culture of dedication and hard work

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Position works in school gymnasiums, dance studios, and outdoor athletic facilities
  • Requires physical activity including demonstrating dance movements, stretching, and standing for extended periods
  • May occasionally be exposed to loud noise levels typical of athletic events, pep rallies, and competitions
