What are dance models?

Dance models are professional performers who showcase dance apparel, footwear, or accessories, often for photoshoots, runway shows, advertisements, or promotional events. They combine dance skills with modeling techniques to effectively highlight products in motion and convey energy, style, and technique. Dance models may work with brands, choreographers, or photographers, and often need both a strong foundation in dance and experience in modeling. Their work helps companies market their products to dancers and dance enthusiasts.

What are some common challenges faced by dance models during photo or video shoots?

Dance models often encounter challenges such as holding dynamic poses for extended periods, adapting to varying lighting and set conditions, and coordinating closely with photographers or directors to capture precise movements. Maintaining energy and expressive performance throughout long shoot days can be demanding, especially when repeating complex moves multiple times. Additionally, dance models must frequently adjust their technique to suit the visual requirements of the project, ensuring both artistic integrity and the desired aesthetic are achieved.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Dance Model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dance Model, you need a strong background in various dance styles, physical fitness, rhythm, and the ability to follow choreography, often supported by dance training or a relevant degree. Familiarity with casting processes, audition protocols, and experience using video audition platforms or modeling portfolios is valuable. Confidence, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills help dance models stand out in high-pressure environments and during collaborative projects. These skills ensure effective performance, artistic expression, and success in both live and filmed productions.

Job description

The Movement Dance Experience is growing! We're looking for exceptional, versatile, and committed Dance Educators to join our all-star team.

This is not just a job-it's a mission to inspire, mentor, and develop young dancers into confident, well-rounded individuals. Our teachers are more than instructors; they are leaders, role models, and create meaningful experiences for students of all ages.

We're looking for team players who are eager to make an impact, grow within our studio, and bring their best to every class. If you're excited about fostering a love for dance, guiding students on their journey, and becoming part of a supportive team, let's chat!

If you're seeking a temporary gig, a stepping stone, or something to "fill the gaps," this may not be the right fit. But if you're looking for a studio that values commitment, growth, and the impact you make on dancers' lives, we'd love to hear from you!

This position requires availability during the following hours: Monday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM; and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Applicants must be able to commit to this schedule. Candidates with scheduling conflicts during these times are asked not to apply.

What We're Looking For:

Versatile & Confident Educators

  • Ability to teach multiple styles and age groups, including Parent & Me through adults.
  • Passionate about creating an engaging and structured classroom environment.
  • Committed to providing high-quality instruction that aligns with our curriculum and studio values.
  • Our team embraces adaptability-classes are assigned based on expertise, experience, and studio needs.
  • If you're only comfortable teaching one age group or style, this may not be the best fit. We thrive on growth, flexibility, and a team-first mentality.

Reliable & Professional Team Players

  • Punctual, organized, and able to take ownership of their classes and responsibilities.
  • Strong classroom management skills-capable of leading groups of 1 to 15 dancers with confidence.
  • Dedicated to upholding studio standards and policies, including dress code and professionalism.
  • Excited to work as part of a team and contribute to the studio's culture.

Growth-Oriented Mentors

  • Passionate about guiding students, tracking progress, and setting goals for their development.
  • Excited about opportunities to grow within the studio, take on leadership roles, and invest in their career as an educator.
  • Interested in participating in performances, evaluations, and studio events that support the success of our dancers.

What You'll Be Doing: Dance Instruction & Classroom Leadership

  • Prepare and lead engaging, structured, and progressive dance lessons.
  • Maintain control, organization, and a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Guide dancers through proper technique, performance quality, and personal growth.
  • Take attendance consistently and ensure students are on track in their progress.
  • Encourage, support, and challenge dancers of all levels to reach their full potential.
  • Provide clear and effective feedback to students in a way that builds confidence and skill.

Student & Family Engagement

  • Foster a strong, positive connection with dancers and their families.
  • Verbally communicate important studio updates, events, and announcements to students and parents.
  • Assist with student evaluations, performance preparation, and seasonal studio activities.
  • Welcome trial students and ensure they have a smooth and exciting introduction to our studio.

Studio Involvement & Collaboration

  • Work closely with other educators and staff to create a cohesive team environment.
  • Assist with recital preparation, choreography, and student placement when needed.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom space.
  • Participate in studio marketing materials, including social media and occasional content creation.

Compensation & Growth Opportunities:

  • Base Pay: $20/hour
  • Estimated Hours/Classes Per Week: 8-30 hours
  • Performance-Based Bonuses -Compensation can increase weekly based on student enrollment and retention. The more impact you make, the more you earn!
  • Opportunities for Professional Growth - Leadership roles and expanded teaching hours are available based on performance.
  • (Compensation structure and incentives will be discussed further during the hiring process.)

Why Join The Movement Dance Experience?

  • A Studio That Feels Like Home - We are a tight-knit team that truly cares about our dancers, staff, and studio culture.
  • Opportunities for Professional Development - We support our educators' continued growth and education.
  • More Than Just a Job - Be part of something meaningful where you can truly make an impact and build a long-term career.
