Location: Multiple locations across the Atlanta Metro Area
Department: Creative Arts Programs
Reports to: Program Director
Schedule: Monday through Friday, After School Hours (Typically 2:30pm to 6:00pm)
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications
Job Overview
Artportunity Knocks is seeking an energetic and passionate Dance Instructor to lead engaging after school dance programming for students in grades K through 8. This role focuses on developing students' technical skills, creativity, confidence, and performance ability through structured dance instruction.
The ideal candidate brings strong dance experience, classroom management skills, and a commitment to youth development. This role includes choreography, skill building, and preparing students for showcases or performances while creating a safe and inspiring learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Dance Instruction and Curriculum Delivery
• Teach dance fundamentals including rhythm, coordination, technique, and movement expression
• Introduce students to various dance styles such as hip hop, contemporary, jazz, cultural dance, creative movement, or related forms
• Develop structured lesson plans aligned with student skill levels and program goals
• Create choreography and guide students toward performance readiness
Student Development and Engagement
• Foster confidence, discipline, teamwork, and artistic expression
• Encourage student participation, creativity, and positive collaboration
• Identify teachable moments that support both skill development and personal growth
• Support student preparation for showcases, presentations, or community performances
Classroom Management and Safety
• Maintain a structured, respectful, and safe dance environment
• Ensure students are supervised at all times

Qualifications
Required
• High school diploma or GED, College Degree
• Demonstrated dance experience and ability to teach youth dance instruction

• Ability to pass a background check
• Ability to maintain general mobility including standing, moving, demonstrating dance techniques, and light lifting
Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Dance, Performing Arts, Education, or related field
• Choreography or performance experience
• First Aid and Child and Adult CPR Certification
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
