Job description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:
  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. Duties of the light production worker may include feed dicer, case product, apply labels, palletize, inspection, relief, and trim, weigh and bag product.
  4. Operate packaging equipment efficiently and safely.
  5. Monitors procedures and working conditions that could result in product contamination or excessive waste.
  6. Communicates effectively with plant personnel.
  7. Verify quality control items such as product weights, coding, uniformity, and packaging.
  8. Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping.
  9. Operate various machines at an efficient level to fulfill plant demands.
  10. Assist with sanitation and housekeeping throughout the plant.
  11. Adhere to all aspects of company and customer safety, sanitation and policies.
  12. Assists with training new employees.
  13. Provides assistance to the maintenance personnel, for machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  14. Adhere to all Quality, Food Safety, GMP, and AMPI Safety Polices & Procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
