Overview

Otterbein Tipp City is currently seeking Dietary Aides to join our team at our vibrant, not-for-profit retirement community. Culinary Aides assist in the preparation and serving of quality food to residents, guests, and employees under sanitary conditions.

Shift: Full-time 6a-2p, every other weekend.  Need to be flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes diet cards prior to each meal.
  • Assists with scraping, rinsing, washing, sorting and storing of dishes, pots, pans and utensils.
  • Washes dishes according to established procedure for manual and/or automatic dishwashing. Records wash/rinse chemical temperatures.
  • Prepares morning, afternoon and evening snacks.
  • Wraps silverware as needed.
  • Assists in receiving, storing and rotating of stock utilizing storage policies and guidelines as appropriate.
  • Performs daily cleaning per schedule including trash removal.
  • Dates, labels and properly covers leftovers for storage.
  • Assembles trays according to planned menus and tray tickets, stated portions, resident food preferences and diet orders within time frames as specified.
  • Responsible for setting and clearing tables between meals.
  • Records temperatures of cold and hot food and beverages.
  • Respects and maintains residents' dignity, individuality, privacy and confidentiality.
  • Promotes positive public relations for the facility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED preferred

Experience: 

  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Must be knowledgeable of spreadsheet, diet cards, recipes and setting up trays.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently or with supervision.
  • Ability to address employees, residents, family members, visitors and the public.
  • Must be able to implement written or oral programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of dietary department.
