Position Overview

A family in Cambridge, MA is seeking an engaged, energetic nanny to care for their two children, ages 5 and 3, in a long-term, live-out position. This role follows a split schedule covering the morning routine and the after-school stretch. The children attend two different schools in neighboring communities, so this is a driving-heavy role: the nanny handles school transportation in her or his own vehicle, with pickups in the mid-to-late afternoon and return to Cambridge. Afternoons are spent helping the children settle in after school, engaging them in active play, and handling children's tasks around the home. The ideal candidate is an active, hands-on caregiver who enjoys getting on the floor and playing, drives confidently in the greater Boston area, and takes initiative without needing direction. The family has one large dog; the nanny has no pet care responsibilities. Summer and school-break weeks may bring slight shifts in timing, with the weekly guarantee held steady.

Benefits
  • Guaranteed hours per week, including during summer and school breaks
  • One week paid vacation
  • Two paid sick days and two paid personal days per year
  • Three major paid holidays
  • Long-term position with a family seeking a lasting relationship
Responsibilities
  • Morning routine: getting the children up and dressed, engaging them in play, and supporting breakfast and school preparation
  • Morning school drop-off using the nanny's own vehicle
  • Afternoon school pickup and transport back to Cambridge
  • Help the children settle in after school; unpack and clean out lunch boxes
  • Provide attentive, engaged afternoon care and active play
  • Children's laundry, washing through put-away
  • Tidy and organize children's play areas and toys
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for the children
Requirements
  • Prior professional childcare experience with preschool- and school-age children
  • Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license
  • Comfortable driving children daily between Cambridge and surrounding communities
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Active, energetic caregiving style
  • Comfortable in a home with one large dog
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, self-directed approach
  • Must be able to provide 3โ€“5 professional references
