Description Summary:  The Senior Accountant performs accounting functions for multiple hotels daily, resulting in accurate & timely financial data to the client's corporate staff, independently with minimal review and oversight by the Accounting Supervisor. May assist Accounting Supervisor in periodic review of Staff Accountant work as well as assist in training. 

Essential Duties: 

The duties listed below are the essential functions of this position, and they may change as the needs of the company demand. All associates are expected to do what is necessary to get the work done and to cooperate fully with their supervisor's requests for additional or altered duties. 

  • Daily bank reconciliation of accounts with more complex transactions and volume  
  • Review of daily or monthly daily report journal entry  
  • Review of payroll journal entries  
  • Review of accounts payable for coding accuracy  
  • Compile month end questions for client  
  • Compile reportable events per client's schedule  
  • Post monthly recurring entries  
  • Expense prepaids monthly  
  • Analytical review of income statements and interpretation for client corporate staff  
  • Monthly preparation of financial statements  
  • Monthly reconciliation of asset & liability accounts  
  • Preparation & filing of sale, use, & occupancy tax returns  
  • May review work of Staff Accountants, answer questions and train them as needed and requested  
  • Other duties as assigned 

Education/Training/Experience:  

  • 3 or more years of experience in a directly related accounting position;  
  • Bachelors Degree is required with a major in Accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Proficiency using Accounting software packages such as Microsoft Dynamics GP, QuickBooks, Peachtree Accounting required; knowledge of M3 proprietary software preferred.  
  • Prior experience in Hospitality or customer facing role preferred.
