Overview

Black Desert Resort, located in the striking red rock setting of Southern Utah, is home to Basalt, the resort’s signature fine dining restaurant known for sophisticated service, elevated cuisine, and an elegant atmosphere. The Maître D’ is a key hospitality professional who ensures guests receive a refined and seamless dining experience from the moment they arrive.

Job Summary:

The Maître D’ at Basalt is responsible for welcoming guests, managing reservations, coordinating seating, and assisting with guest requests throughout their dining experience. This position works closely with the service teams to ensure exceptional guest service in a polished, upscale environment. The Maître D’ plays a central role in creating a welcoming and elegant first impression, especially for VIP guests and special occasions.

Job Specifications:

Onsite: Black Desert Resort – Basalt
Shift & Schedule Availability: Year-Round / Full-Time
Pay Rate: $17/hr. plus portion of tips. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Key Responsibilities Including but not limited to:

  • Greet and welcome each guest with a warm, personalized, and professional demeanor.
  • Manage the reservation system and walk-in seating, ensuring timely and smooth guest flow.
  • Escort guests to their tables and communicate special requests or preferences to the service team.
  • Provide a refined and attentive presence throughout the dining experience to support guest satisfaction.
  • Assist with coordinating VIP arrivals, special occasions, and personalized dining touches.
  • Support pre-arrival communication with guests, including confirmations, special requests, and occasion details.
  • Help the restaurant maintain a professional appearance and contribute to the elegant ambiance of the restaurant.
  • Manage with elegance Basalt phone calls, confirmations, and reservation updates.
  • Collaborate with the restaurant and kitchen staff to ensure a polished and cohesive guest experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience in a fine dining, luxury hotel, or upscale restaurant setting strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional guest service and communication skills, with attention to etiquette and detail.
  • Familiarity with reservation platforms such as OpenTable
  • Professional, composed demeanor and a passion for delivering hospitality at the highest level.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on restaurant hours.
