We’re Hiring for a Site Manager at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve!

The Peel Compton Foundation is looking for an exceptional leader with a passion for Nature, Education, Recreation, and Preservation. The Peel Compton Foundation (PCF), a premiere and growing nonprofit organization, located in Bentonville, AR is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual to join the team as the Site Manager for Coler Mountain Bike Preserve. PCF owns and operates the Peel Mansion & Heritage Gardens, Compton Gardens & Conference Center, Coler Mountain Bike Preserve, and Osage Park. The uniting mission for these diverse properties is to connect the community through nature, education, recreation, and preservation. The Peel Compton Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

About the Position:

You'll join a top-notch team, be a partner to the Director of Operations and drive all aspects of operational excellence and management for the Peel Compton Foundation. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Coler Mountain Bike Preserve. The preserve is accessible 365 days a year and requires execution of a robust operation and maintenance plan for the ~300-acre property.

General:
  • Manage the Coler staff (hiring, training, performance management, etc.)
  • Lead & execute the day-to-day operations and management of Coler
  • Supervise the Campground Manager ensuring an excellent customer experience for all visitors
  • Maintain strong relationship with the café vendor
  • 3rd Party Relationship Management (ie. Contracted work)
  • P&L Management, budgeting, and capital planning
  • Secondary duties may be assigned
Operations:
  • Coordinate and appropriately manage Coler staff, construction and maintenance vendors, 3rd parties, and volunteers to ensure a constantly high level of quality and safety across all park attributes and amenities – both cycling and non-cycling.
  • Coordinate, continuously improve, and lead execution of the operations and maintenance plan. This responsibility is inclusive of all cycling and non-cycling infrastructure, grounds and facilities.
  • Provide oversight of the campground facilities and customer service, track and report revenue goals each month, and coordinate with marketing for campsite promotion.
  • Represent the Coler property interests as the key point of contact for outside visitor tours as requested, this could include (special guests visiting NWA, cycling Pros, etc). This may also include cycling trails, vehicle tours or walking tours as requested by our constituents and representing Peel Compton Foundation.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance of existing soft surface trails and Greenway trails including all appurtenances to ensure the cycling experience is consistent with the vision of excellence set forth by the funders and complies with (or exceeds) cycling industry standards for experience and safety.
  • Maintain cleanliness and operation of facilities including restrooms, signage, furniture, bike repair stations, etc.
  • Maintain appearance of the grounds. This includes mowing, vegetation trimming, periodic replacement of location-specific plantings, pesticide application, litter removal, and clean‑up after weather events.
  • Ensureexcellent customer servicein all aspects of the camping experience –staff coverage,booking, check-in, clean‑up, safety and security.
  • Address customer requests and emergencies on site and expedite customer or safety concerns appropriately.
  • Ensure the site meets budget goals on a sustaining basis. Assist in the development of long‑range plans and capital outlay requirements for program/process improvements.
  • Manage Coler’s daily expenditures, prepare and submit purchase requests for supplies, tools, equipment, safety devices, and other items as needed.
  • Effectively provide verbal and written communication.
  • Provide needed set‑up, event management, tear‑down and clean‑up as related to special event programming at Coler.
  • Salaried position. The preserve is open 365 days a year, staff coverage is required for holidays and weekends.
Who we are seeking:
  • College degree and 5+ years of park management experience
  • 5-10 years of overall professional experience
  • Avid mountain biker (a huge plus)
  • The ideal candidate has experience in leadership and management and a demonstrated track record of high-performance while being able to use sound judgement and reasoning to make decisions
  • Inspires and motivates employees, instills trust and respect amongst all employees, and accepts feedback
  • Significant facilities management required (State or National Park Management)
  • Soft surface trail maintenance, hospitality management, vegetation management
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools, operate small utility and passenger vehicles
  • Exceptional customer service skills and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Adept at using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
