Job description

The Katz JCC is seeking a motivated and energetic Cycling Instructor to lead engaging and high-energy indoor cycling classes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fitness, strong communication skills, and the ability to motivate participants of all fitness levels. Responsibilities include designing effective workout routines, ensuring participant safety, proving clear instructions, and creating a positive and inclusive class environment.

Job Summary:

Assist the Group Fitness Supervisor in the coordination and supervision of all Cycling classes at the Katz JCC. This position will help develop and oversee all aspects of the Cycling classes at the Katz JCC. Assist with on-going promotion of the classes ensuring the maximum quality of the program.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. In conjunction with the Group Fitness Supervisor, help maintain professional instruction for the Barre program. Ensure high quality of instructors (maintain a variety of instructors to help accommodate personal tastes) and help to maintain a professional atmosphere among all instructors.
  2. In conjunction with the Group Fitness Supervisor, maintain a safe, comfortable atmosphere in all the Cycling studios for members and guests. Reports on unclean conditions, safety hazards and malfunctioning equipment.
  3. Maintain records and statistics with respect to the Cycling classes, to ensure rosters and class attendance are current and accurate via our Mind Body CRM.
  4. Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing strategies for current and new Cycling classes and special events. Outreach to the community and share marketing resources.
  5. Maintain required certifications for CPR, AED, and Barre Instructor certifications and attend local conferences/workshops where applicable.
  6. As a professional representative of the agency, maintain proper relationships with public and private agencies for the purpose of developing inter-agency programs.
  7. In conjunction with Group Fitness Supervisor help to develop new innovative Cycling classes and special events.
  8. Coordinate Cycling staff meetings/trainings and development.
  9. Recruit, train, and schedule new certified instructors for various Cycling classes in the program
  10. Maintain ongoing communication with members and participants in Cycling studios-high level of customer service via our Mindbody CRM System.
  11. Understand and be able to administer emergency procedures (fire alarm, evacuations, injuries, etc.)
  12. Maintain a high level of professionalism as JCC Fitness Staff Personnel.
  13. When able, instruct a minimum of 3 Cycling classes per week and provide substitute instructors when needed.
  14. Assist the Group Fitness Supervisor with monthly Cycling class schedule
  15. Additional responsibilities may be added periodically based upon the needs of the Fitness and Wellness department of the Katz JCC.

Required Licenses/ Certificates/Registrations:

  • Must hold a National Cycling Instructor Certification and at least one other specialty Cycling Certification (Core Cycling, Spin, Zumba, Yoga) with at least 3 yearsโ€™ experience teaching Cycling classes.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certified

Required Education & Experience:

  • Ability to work well with others and build/promote teamwork towards a common goal
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, good communication skills, friendly outgoing attitude
  • Good leadership skills
