Job description

Lead Instructor Job Description

An Instructor that is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day creative quality of his/her studio, while providing inspiration and leadership.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 years experience as an indoor cycling instructor
  • Teach at least 4-5 classes per week
  • Demonstrates leadership in the studio

Duties of a Lead Instructor:

  • Helps the franchise owner/studio manager recruit new talent for the studio
  • Recruits and auditions quarterly
  • Maintains brand standards in his/her studio
  • Teaches an on-brand class
  • Keeps in regular communication with the Senior Master Instructor team
  • Performs quarterly evaluations on all CycleStars in his/her studio.

Recommended Best Practices:

  • Participate in the Lead Instructor calls every other Friday at 10am, pacific standard time
  • Attend a Lead Instructor Training
  • Watch all videos on the FB forum and engage entire team
  • Practice what you preach; always aim to lead by example
  • Attend Camp CycleBar

Compensation

Suggested best practices for Lead Instructor compensation:

  • Admin work (emails, scheduling, social media, attending the Lead call, watching FB forum videos, taking classes, recruiting, etc) should be set at a lower hourly rate than training 
  • The training rate (auditions, team training, working with a current instructor, evaluations) should be a higher hourly rate as this is a specialized skillset
  • In addition to teaching their classes, expect a lead to work an additional 5-7 hours a week 
  • Set expectations for each week

SAMPLE of a week in the life of a LEAD:

Monday - teach 1 class, take 1 class 

Tuesday  - 1 hour of admin (recruiting via social media)

Wednesday - teach 1 class, 1 hour of admin (subs and theme rides)

Thursday - off

Friday - teach 1 class, take 1 class, 1 hour of admin (Lead instructor call)

Saturday - teach 1 class
