Business Systems Security Officer Intern

Are you passionate about cybersecurity and eager to gain hands-on experience in a leading global company? LyondellBasell is offering a summer internship opportunity where you will work closely with our Business Systems Security team within the Digital Security organization.

As a BISO Intern, you'll immerse yourself in the world of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) cybersecurity, supporting manufacturing site systems to ensure their integrity, confidentiality, reliability, and availability. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside senior BISOs, gaining practical experience in assessing and enhancing the security of our applications and infrastructure. This role is perfect for those looking to develop their skills and understand the professional and departmental standards in cybersecurity.

What You Can Expect:

  • Hands-On Experience: Oversee the operation of regional and local preventative systems, including firewalls, patches, protection systems, and certificate management.
  • Security Compliance: Ensure all regional sites' networks and systems comply with corporate standards and communicate threats appropriately.
  • Monitoring & Assessment: Participate in Level 2 monitoring, support, site vulnerability assessments (SVA), and Operational Excellence assessment support.
  • Project Support: Assist in the design and implementation of security projects, and support forensics investigations.
  • Security Awareness: Help implement effective regional security awareness programs and contribute to setting technical direction for ICS systems architecture and security.
  • Expertise Development: Provide information protection expertise to IT operational teams, ensuring systems are properly protected and monitored by design.
  • Evangelize Security: Advocate for security within LyondellBasell and drive necessary changes in response to emerging threats.

Qualifications We're Looking For:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IS or IT Security, Computer Engineering, Data Science & Analytics, Instrument Engineering, or a related field.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Strong analytical and cognitive thinking skills, exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Willingness to work in an ambiguous environment and comfort with iterative work
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.
