OPPORTUNITY 01 — CYBERSECURITY ANALYST

Summary Description
Gain hands-on cybersecurity experience embedded with a civilian enterprise security team. This 16-week SkillBridge internship, administered by Veteran Workforce Solutions in partnership with Covenant HR, is designed for transitioning service members with cyber operations, signals intelligence, or IT backgrounds. Participants develop proficiency in threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response — with a strong probability of full-time employment upon completion.

Job Description
The Cybersecurity Analyst SkillBridge participant works alongside civilian security professionals within a Covenant HR employer partner organization. Under the guidance of an assigned industry mentor, the participant supports threat monitoring, SIEM operations, vulnerability scanning, and incident response activities across a 16-week structured program. Training progresses from orientation and threat landscape fundamentals through applied SOC operations, vulnerability management, and a capstone threat hunt or IR simulation. The participant concludes the program with a performance debrief, employment offer discussion, and a personalized credentialing roadmap aligned to CompTIA Sec+, CEH, or CISSP pathways.

Eligibility Factors

  • Must be an active-duty service member within 180 days of separation or retirement
  • Must have unit commanding officer approval to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
  • Background in cyber operations, signals intelligence, IT systems, or network administration preferred
  • Relevant MOS/rate/AFSC: 17C, 25B, 35Q, CTN, 1B4, 3D0X2, 1N4, 0651
  • Active Secret clearance preferred; not required
  • Must be able to operate in a remote or hybrid work environment
  • No prior civilian cybersecurity certification required
