Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead security operations - Set priorities, coach the team, improve playbooks, and drive measurable remediation outcomes.
  • Manage incident response - Direct detection, containment, recovery, escalation, and post-incident reviews with technical, legal, compliance, and business partners.
  •  Secure cloud, SaaS, and legacy platforms - Improve IAM, logging, monitoring, DLP, posture management, threat detection, access controls, audit readiness, and security operations.
  • Oversee vulnerability management - Lead scanning, risk-based prioritization, remediation tracking, exceptions, compensating controls, reporting, and validation.
  • Advise technology and business teams - Assess risk, support secure design, and translate security issues into practical business decisions.
  • Report metrics and risk - Track service levels, key risk indicators, incident trends, remediation performance, capacity, and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including cybersecurity operations and AWS security; 2+ years leading technical professionals.
  • Hands-on experience with incident response, vulnerability management, remediation tracking, and operational security workflows.
  • Strong judgment in prioritization, resource management, vendor performance, and risk-based decisions.
Skills:
  • Working knowledge of AWS security, SaaS security, SIEM/SOAR, vulnerability scanners, DLP, EDR, firewalls, IAM, logging, and monitoring.
  • Ability to lead through influence, communicate risk in business terms, and present security performance to leadership.
  • Experience with NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, CVSS, DevSecOps, IaC scanning, CI/CD hardening, mainframe security, or compliance is a plus.
Licenses + Certifications:

Preferred certifications include CISSP, CISM, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, or comparable credentials in cybersecurity leadership, cloud security, or risk management.

Essential Functions:
  • Work remotely using reliable internet and standard office technology.
  • If located in Chicago, Waco, Dallas, or Austin, be able to work from our satellite offices a few times a month.
  • Review alerts, reports, logs, and technical documentation.
  • Communicate clearly through email, meetings, reports, and presentations.
  • Support urgent security incidents, manage priorities, and protect sensitive information.
