Job description

Overview

Working under general supervision, the Senior Network Engineer contributes to designing, building, and maintaining network and infrastructure solutions within the Configuration Lab and Technology Integration and Distribution Center (TIDC). This role relies on experience and engineering judgment to plan and accomplish goals while supporting highโ€‘quality, scalable customer solution delivery. The engineer develops and maintains configuration lab infrastructure, performs advanced troubleshooting, and collaborates with internal teams and customers to recommend, design, and validate solutions based on evolving requirements. Responsibilities span VPNs, switching, routing, wireless, server infrastructure, and imaging solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Designs and builds network infrastructure solutions using advanced knowledge in networking concepts to deliver the bestโ€‘inโ€‘class solutions to our clients.
  • Designs and builds server infrastructures to ensure the configuration center performs at optimal efficiencies by using advanced knowledge in virtualization and hardware concepts.
  • Contributes to the development and adoption of automation and standardization practices within the Configuration Lab, including support for APIโ€‘driven workflows and repeatable deployment models.
  • Develops and maintains the integration and documentation of VPNs, switching and routing infrastructure, servers, imaging solutions, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Oversee integration of VPNs or imaging solution devices to the internal laboratory networks.
  • Maintains support on all servers and internal network systems.
  • Performs monthly logged preventative maintenance schedule on all internal devices.
  • Provides estimated configuration time/resources or required hardware to complete configurations.
  • Guides Network Technicians who specialize in supporting the Configuration Lab network, as well as those who configure customer equipment.
Requirements
  • Degree requirements: Associate Degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or Cyber Security or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in network platform methodologies with the ability to correctly design and build networks schemas based on customer requirements.
  • Strong understanding of routing and switching technologies, including BGP, IGP protocols (OSPF, ISโ€‘IS), VRFs, NAT, and network segmentation.
  • Advanced network troubleshooting skills, server virtualization, and security protocols across the TCP/IP stack.
  • Technical documentation and communication skills (Visio, HLD/LLD diagraming).
  • Working knowledge of network automation concepts, including Python, Ansible, REST APIs, and structured data formats (JSON, YAML).
  • Familiarity with sourceโ€‘ofโ€‘truth and automation platforms such as Nautobot, NetBox, or similar.
  • Understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) and modelโ€‘driven network automation concepts.
  • Exposure to or foundational understanding of AIโ€‘assisted operations and emerging agentic AI concepts in network automation and infrastructure management.
  • Advanced knowledge of various operating systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of various imaging software.
  • Working knowledge of the business application of network solutions with ability to assist customers in improving their business goals by delivering high quality networking solutions.
  • Business and technical analysis skills with ability to define and organize all software and hardware requirements of a customerโ€™s configuration.
  • Any of the following certifications are preferred: CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, Cisco Automation / DevNet Certifications, CompTIA Cloud+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, VMware, UniFi UFSP, URSCA etc.
