Instructor, Cyber-Defender: Ethical Hacking

Circuit Stream is a leader in future technology skills training and learning content. We offer world-class educational services for teen and adult learners with a focus on the skills needed to leverage immersive and emerging technology. We are seeking passionate cybersecurity specialists or architects to teach our Cyberdefender: Ethical Hacking courses to learners aged 13-18. Students will be learning to apply the CIA Triad to assess and enhance the security of digital assets. They will learn to use a variety of security tools and technologies for assessment and proactive defense, analyze network traffic to identify vulnerabilities and malicious activities and implement security controls, including firewalls and cryptographic techniques, to mitigate potential risks. The ideal instructor candidates for this course should possess a strong foundation in cybersecurity best practice as well as experience using VirtualBox and Wireshark, plus some teaching, TA or training experience.

Cyber Defender: Ethical Hacking is offered once at University of Washington Seattle campus (Poplar Hall classroom). The instructor hired to teach this course must be available from 9:00am-3:30pm PT from July 13-24, 2026, (plus 1 week in June for training).

Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted starting in February 2026. Responsibilities include leading engaging and comprehensive classroom sessions with teen learners following the Cyberdefender: Ethical Hacking course curriculum, providing constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to students as they ideate, develop, and iterate on their PCAP Analysis and basic penetration test on a virtual machine, showcasing proficiency in cybersecurity fundamentals and ethical hacking practices, sharing real-world experiences, case studies, and insights to offer students a holistic understanding of the field, and grading assessments that accurately measure student understanding and progress within the course.

Requirements include availability to teach during the day 9am to 3:30pm in July 2026 (dates and times listed above), previous professional experience in roles related to cybersecurity, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field, or current Masters student with Cybersecurity specialization, proficiency in Oracle VirtualBox and Kali Linux, Wireshark, Metasploit, strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible and engaging manner, innate logical thinking and the ability to inspire and nurture logical thinking in students, a passion for guiding and mentoring students, fostering their growth, and providing meaningful feedback, willingness to adapt to evolving curriculum needs, industry trends, and emerging technologies, a collaborative attitude, eager to contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, a proactive attitude towards ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and stay up-to-date with industry advancements, a strong portfolio of relevant work to showcase your skills and experience, and previous teaching or TA experience is an asset.
