  • Pay: $19.25/hour base pay, plus commission guarantees, plus uncapped bi-weekly commission.
  • Typical First-Year Earnings: $50K–$60K.
  • Market Focus: Public sector sales serving state and local government, higher education, and K-12 customers.
  • Sales Focus: Cold calling, outbound prospecting, lead generation, and building a book of business from the ground up.

Start your career as an Inside Sales Account Manager in an entry-level technology sales role focused on cold calling, outbound prospecting, account development, and helping state and local government, higher education, and K-12 customers find the right technology solutions.

At Connection, you’ll learn to build, manage, and grow customer accounts through inside sales and consultative technology sales while supporting public sector customers with hardware, software, cloud, cybersecurity, data center, endpoint, and professional services solutions.

About the Role

As an Inside Sales Account Manager, you’ll build your own book of business through cold calling, outbound prospecting, lead generation, and targeted outreach. This is a new business development role — not a warm-leads, order-taking, or account-maintenance position — with support from internal experts, vendor partners, and a broad technology solutions portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a book of business through cold calling, outbound prospecting, lead generation, and targeted outreach.
  • Engage decision-makers to uncover organizational needs, budget priorities, and sales opportunities.
  • Recommend technology solutions with support from vendor partners and internal experts.
  • Develop accounts and build trusted relationships with public sector, higher education, and K-12 customers.
  • Manage daily sales activity, account development, pipeline updates, and follow-up.
  • Work cross-functionally to deliver quotes, pricing, and customer solutions aligned to account needs.

Training & Support

  • Paid onboarding: Learn Connection’s business, public sector customers, sales expectations, hybrid work practices, and the Inside Sales Account Manager role.
  • Systems and process training: Learn sales processes, quoting tools, customer relationship tools, pipeline tracking, and account documentation.
  • Outbound sales practice: Build confidence with cold calling, prospecting, lead generation, discovery questions, follow-up, and account development.
  • Technology solutions training: Gain exposure to product categories, vendor solutions, customer needs, and consultative selling.
  • Ongoing coaching: Receive manager coaching, call feedback, role-play practice, activity reviews, and support with objection handling, pipeline management, and growing your book of business.

Requirements

We’re looking for dependable, coachable, and motivated candidates who are ready to learn, make outbound calls, and grow as Inside Sales Account Managers.

No prior sales or technology sales experience is required.

  • Strong work ethic, coachability, accountability, and consistency.
  • Comfort with cold calling, outbound prospecting, lead generation, and new account development.
  • Interest in building and growing a book of business from the ground up.
  • Clear communication, active listening, customer relationship building, and follow-up.
  • Organization, pipeline tracking, CRM documentation, Microsoft Office skills, and interest in technology sales.

Great Fit for Recent Graduates

  • Recent college graduates, new graduates, or early-career candidates ready to start a professional sales career.
  • Candidates interested in entry-level technology sales, business development, inside sales, or account management.
  • Motivated learners who want paid training, coaching, professional development, and a long-term career path.

Why Join Connection

  • Career growth: Start in an entry-level Inside Sales Account Manager role with room to build long-term momentum in technology sales.
  • Meaningful customer impact: Help public sector, higher education, and K-12 customers solve real technology challenges.
  • Broad technology exposure: Work with hardware, software, cloud, cybersecurity, data center, endpoint, and professional services solutions.
  • Team-based selling: Partner with sales operations, vendor teams, and technical specialists to deliver strong customer solutions.
  • Total rewards: Access competitive benefits that support your financial, physical, and emotional well-being.
