Job Summary: The Cybersecurity Engineeris a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a officeenvironment, overseen by Director of Enterprise Systems, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.

All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science related field with a focus in Cybersecurity from a four-year college or university or equivalent work experience and industry certifications
  • Minimum of five years of experience in cybersecurity, network, and information systems engineering
  • Technical certifications, training, and experience to demonstrate knowledge and abilities: Network+, Security+ Certified Ethical Hacker, GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification) Security Essentials, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or equivalent
  • Preferred experience with administering K12 enterprise applications and technologies

Knowledge & Duties:

  • Executes and improves the core functions of the Division of Technology, including but not limited to threat detection and prevention, incident response, systems and network security monitoring, forensics, vulnerability management, and data loss prevention on an enterprise scale
  • Reviews computer security incident reports and anomalous activity of network and ensures ongoing proactive measures to mitigate risks as well as providing Tier 1-3 escalation path for resolving security incidents
  • Researches, develops, and keeps abreast of federal, state and industry requirements as well as tools, techniques, and process improvements in support of security detection and analysis
  • Uses tools and techniques to collect, analyze, and aggregate data loss prevention, security information event management, privileged account management, and data encryption
  • Escalates network and security concerns to the appropriate supervisor and other administrators as applicable; advise of any potential risk exposure
  • Monitors installed systems for security events
  • Isolates, defines, and corrects enterprise related application and user security issues
  • Defines and maintains security for the district’s Microsoft 365 applications, MFA (multi-factor authentication), password requirements, and Microsoft Intune policies
  • Implements and monitors network detection appliances for intrusion attempts including port scans
  • Manages cybersecurity awareness training for employees to promote a culture of network and data security practices utilizing our Knowbe4 phishing and training application
  • Performs enterprise software integrations for LDAP, SAML or SSO
  • Coordinates appropriate cybersecurity protocols and practices across the Technology Division including training, support, network , and systems, ensure vulnerabilities are identified and addressed
  • Applies and updates SSL Certificates for district websites
  • With firewall competency, conducts investigations and ensures secure configuration for firewall and network appliances
  • Thoroughly documents unique security solutions, operations, and configurations
  • Maintains an active awareness of emerging trends and participates in professional development and research related to information technology including cybersecurity, network and enterprise solutions
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.
