Job description

IT Infrastructure Architect, Lead
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Architect to lead the modernization of the Air Force's Air Operations Center (AOC) weapon system, a critical command and control (C2) capability. This architect will shape the next-generation by modernizing hybrid cloud, data, and application ecosystems, advancing automation, and redesigning infrastructure to improve operational agility and resiliency in highly contested environments.
In this role, you will drive technical roadmaps aligned to AOC warfighter architectures, evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, and guide the evolution of enterprise-scale C2 infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in secure, cloud-enabled environments, systems integration across legacy and modern platforms, and mission-focused engineering that directly enhances AOC readiness, data interoperability, and decision superiority for warfighters.
What You'll Work On:
  • Design and enhance enterprise infrastructure architectures across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
  • Lead technical planning and CONOPS development supporting mission and operational requirements.
  • Integrate secure practices, including hardening, RMF alignment, and vulnerability mitigation, into all infrastructure designs.
  • Support DevSecOps pipelines, container platforms, and modernized development environments.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies, ensuring alignment with organizational mission, security standards, and digital engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to deliver resilient, scalable solutions.

You Have:
  • 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure architecture
  • Experience providing enterprise-level IT architecture and engineering services
  • Experience with team leadership and personnel management encompassing a varied set of operational technology domains and staff members
  • Experience with virtualization, networking, enterprise compute stacks, RMF or NIST frameworks, secure architecture principles, and cloud service models such as IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS
  • Knowledge of Agile software development life cycles and IT enterprise support components to enable DevOps-based application delivery
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps tools and modern application hosting environments
  • Ability to work in a very dynamic DoD client operational environment with mission-focused support and quick reactionary needs
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • DoDI 8570.01 Level III Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Certification such as CISSP-ISSEP or AP Certification

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience providing executive-level technical briefings and presentations to senior government personnel
  • Experience modernizing large, complex, or distributed mission support systems
  • Experience with DevOps and ITIL-based operations methodologies
  • Experience facilitating IT systems to meet cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization (A&A) compliance standards for DoD RMF
  • Experience supporting DoD, AOC, or similar mission environments
  • Experience with digital engineering, data integration, and enterprise architecture frameworks
  • Knowledge of Windows Server technologies, Docker container-based technology deployment and delivery, IT performance management and monitoring, IT infrastructure automation, including Ansible, and virtualization technologies
  • Cloud Security or Cloud-related Technology Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
