Job description

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking an Associate Cybersecurity Analyst to support its Cybersecurity department, which is responsible for safeguarding institutional systems, identities, and data through modern security practices. The Associate Cybersecurity Analyst plays a key role in maintaining Identity and Access Management (IAM) operations that ensure secure and appropriate user access across enterprise platforms. The Associate Cybersecurity Analyst contributes to this mission by supporting secure identity services, helping protect sensitive information, and enabling operational efficiency across the organization.

The Associate Cybersecurity Analyst operates under guidance from senior staff to sustain and improve IAM processes aligned with zero-trust and least-privilege principles. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in a related field and preferably brings hands-on IAM or identity administration experience, including familiarity with enterprise identity platforms, identity lifecycle processes, access reviews, and relevant industry certifications supporting cybersecurity and access governance. Minimum $68,500 - Midpoint $85,500 - Maximum $102,500 Work Location: Remote 100% within Texas Why Us.

This role offers the opportunity to directly support UT MD Anderson's mission by ensuring secure, compliant access to critical systems while gaining hands-on experience in modern IAM practices and tools such as Microsoft Entra ID. The position supports professional growth through exposure to identity governance, automation, and cybersecurity operations within a leading healthcare environment, while offering flexibility through a fully remote Texas-based work arrangement. Responsibilities Identity Lifecycle Management Perform daily joiner/mover/leaver processes to ensure accurate account creation, updates, and deprovisioning Coordinate with authoritative sources to maintain synchronized identity data across systems Access Provisioning & Request Fulfillment Process access requests in accordance with policies, roles, and approval workflows Provision and deprovision user access across enterprise applications and platforms Ensure access aligns with least-privilege principles and role-based requirements Identity Platform Operations (Entra ID) Support configuration and daily operations of Microsoft Entra ID, SSO, and MFA Monitor identity services and escalate complex issues to senior analysts Assist in maintaining stable and reliable identity platform performance Access Reviews & Compliance Support Support access reviews, certifications, and segregation-of-duties checks Gather and document audit evidence for compliance and regulatory requirements Assist in ensuring adherence to access control policies Access Governance Support & Automation Assistance Support maintenance of RBAC and entitlement structures Assist in developing and executing automation and scripts for provisioning and reporting Use approved AI tools to enhance IAM efficiency and support development of simple automation workflows Privileged & Third-Party Access Support Support onboarding and management of privileged and external accounts Monitor high-risk access and assist with periodic access reviews Identity Incident & Issue Support Respond to IAM service requests and access-related incidents Triage and resolve routine issues, escalating security concerns as needed Identify and report suspicious access or potential account compromise Documentation & Operational Process Develop and maintain IAM documentation, runbooks, and procedures Ensure processes are consistent, repeatable, and auditable Perform other duties as assigned EDUCATION Required: Bachelor's Degree Computer Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Computer Science or related field. WORK EXPERIENCE Required: None May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Preferred: At least 2 years of hands-on IAM or identity administration experience, direct hands-on experience working in an enterprise identity platform, exp performing identity lifecycle tasks such as account creation, modifying user attributes/group memberships, and joiner-mover-leaver processing, experience supporting or coordinating access reviews / access certifications.
