Position Overview
AEBS is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to design, implement, and manage security solutions for cloud-based environments. This role will help establish secure cloud configurations, strengthen layered defenses, automate security operations, and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
This position may align with multiple levels within the cybersecurity job family, including IT Cybersecurity Analyst, Senior IT Cybersecurity Analyst, and Principal IT Cybersecurity Analyst. Level placement will be based on qualifications and experience.
During the contract period, health insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) match may be available. Upon conversion to full-time employment, the position offers a top compensation rate of $150,000 annually.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement standards for the secure configuration and layered defense of cloud resources.
  • Design, implement, and manage security solutions for cloud environments.
  • Develop and enforce cloud security policies and procedures based on industry best practices and recognized frameworks.
  • Implement and manage controls such as network segmentation, data protection, intrusion prevention, and threat detection.
  • Automate security operations through scripting and infrastructure-as-code techniques.
  • Deploy and configure cloud-native security tools, including firewalls, encryption, and identity and access management solutions.
  • Track and report key performance indicators related to cloud security.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze security audit logs.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities within cloud infrastructures.
  • Stay current with trends, tools, and techniques related to cloud security, networking, defense in depth, and automation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve security issues and improve the organization's overall security posture.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, computer information systems, management information systems, engineering, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combinations of an associate degree, military or professional cybersecurity experience, and relevant certifications may be considered.
  • Relevant certifications may include CISSP, GIAC, MCSE, CEH, GICSP, CSSA, or CISM.
  • At least 2 years of cybersecurity experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience working in cloud security and cybersecurity.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles, architectures, and best practices, including CIS and NIST frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
