Job description

CWI / Structural Inspector

Location: Tulsa, OK

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $30/hr - $38/hr, plus overtime and bonuses

Reports To: Lead Structural Inspector

AIMRIGHT Testing and Engineering is seeking an experienced Structural Inspector to perform complex special inspections, AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and related field quality assurance activities on structural steel and other assigned scopes. This role supports active construction projects through sound technical judgment, timely reporting, and responsive communication with contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients.

The Structural Inspector helps protect quality, code compliance, and project progress by providing dependable field inspections, accurate documentation, and responsive support on active job sites. This role is expected to represent AIMRIGHT professionally while helping clients, engineers, and contractors address issues quickly and keep projects moving.


What You’ll Do:

Primary Responsibilities

Inspections (Special Inspections, CWI Inspections)

·   Lead complex structural and welding inspections, providing technical judgment on challenging field conditions.

·   Perform ICC Special Inspections, including structural masonry, structural welding, structural steel, prestressed concrete, and reinforced concrete as assigned.

·   Perform AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) inspections in accordance with applicable project requirements and code standards.

·   Review plans, specifications, and project documents to confirm scope, sequencing, and inspection requirements.

·   Troubleshoot inspection issues and communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients.

Project Coordination & Reporting

·   Track re-inspection needs and help close open items with the project management team.

·   Coordinate with site superintendents and foremen to align inspection timing with construction activities.

·   Prepare accurate, timely, and professional field inspection reports.

·   Improve consistency through templates, checklists, and best-practice documentation.

Safety & Training

·   Partner with leadership on safety reinforcement and process improvements.

·   Train and mentor Structural Inspector I-III team members in field methods, reporting standards, and jobsite professionalism.

·   Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company health and safety plans.

·   Promote a culture of safety awareness on all job sites, including safe work at heights and in changing field conditions.


What We’re Looking For:

Required Qualifications

·   Minimum of 3 years of structural or special inspection experience; 5+ years preferred.

·   Strong written documentation skills and client/jobsite communication abilities.

·   Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

·   Ability to work year-round in all weather conditions and at heights.

·   Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, squatting, climbing, and lifting 25-75 lbs.

·   Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment/random drug testing.

Required Certifications

·   AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - active certification required.

·   Demonstrated experience applying AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel in field inspection, including weld acceptance criteria, documentation, and code compliance.

Preferred Certifications

Candidates with any of the following Nondestructive Testing (NDT) certifications will be given strong preference (ASNT, ACCP, or equivalent):

·   Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level II or Level III

·   Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Level II or Level III

·   Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) Level II or Level III

·   ASNT Level II/III in structural steel-related methods

·   Other ISO- or nationally recognized NDT certifications applicable to field inspection of structural steel
