Job description

For more than 30 years, SQA Services has provided managed supplier quality services, including inspections, audits, corrective actions, remediation, and engineering support. We deploy experienced quality professionals globally to support client and supplier sites on demand.
 

SQA Services is seeking an Electromechanical Quality Inspector (Level 2) to support a major data center infrastructure program at a supplier facility in Lexington, Virginia.

This role focuses on inspection activities related to chillers, air handling units, structural fabrication, and electromechanical assemblies. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical inspection and welding inspection experience, along with the ability to support production quality activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is a full-time, on-site contract role with immediate need and potential for extension.

  • Location: Lexington, VA
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday (40 hours/week)
  • Shift: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible)
  • Duration: 3 months (potential extension)
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform in-process and final inspections on chillers, air handling units, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and welding inspections per drawings and specifications
  • Inspect structural fabrication, rivets, and mechanical assemblies
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and witness inspections
  • Verify supplier execution to inspection plans and quality requirements
  • Review and compile inspection documentation and sign-off packages
  • Identify and document nonconformances and support corrective action closure
  • Provide weekly updates on production and quality performance
  • Utilize Google Sheets, Gmail, and Google Drive for reporting and communication
  • Read and interpret basic wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
Required Qualifications
  • Experience performing electromechanical inspections in manufacturing environments
  • Strong background in welding inspection and structural fabrication
  • Minimum of:
    • 5+ years of professional welding inspection experience, OR
    • 3+ years of experience with ASME or CWI certification
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and basic wiring diagrams
  • Experience with visual, dimensional, and witness inspections
  • Comfortable using Google Sheets, Gmail, and Google Drive
  • Ability to work independently on-site in a production environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with HVAC systems, chillers, or air handling units
  • Experience supporting data center or industrial equipment projects
  • Familiarity with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • Experience supporting supplier quality or third-party inspections
