As a Simulation Nursing Instructor, you will play a vital role in preparing future nurses through innovative, evidence-based simulation education. You'll design and facilitate realistic clinical learning experiences, collaborate with faculty to integrate simulation throughout the nursing curriculum, and help ensure students develop the knowledge, confidence, and clinical judgment needed for professional practice. This position also provides leadership in simulation lab operations, faculty development, and continuous program improvement using nationally recognized simulation best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Deliver High-Quality Simulation Learning Experiences

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve evidence-based simulation activities that align with course outcomes, nursing competencies, and accreditation standards.
  • Facilitate engaging simulation experiences and debriefings that strengthen students' clinical reasoning, decision-making, and professional practice.
  • Create and evaluate pre- and post-simulation learning activities, assessments, and student performance using validated evaluation methods.

Lead Simulation Laboratory Operations

  • Coordinate the planning, preparation, and execution of simulation activities to ensure a safe, organized, and effective learning environment.
  • Oversee simulation equipment, technology, inventory, and maintenance in collaboration with simulation staff and vendors to maximize instructional readiness.
  • Develop simulation protocols and support ongoing quality improvement initiatives that enhance the simulation program.

Collaborate to Advance Nursing Education

  • Partner with nursing faculty to integrate simulation throughout the curriculum and ensure consistency across courses.
  • Provide orientation, coaching, and professional development to faculty on simulation design, facilitation, and debriefing best practices.
  • Contribute to curriculum review, program assessment, accreditation efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives that support student success.

Promote Excellence and Professional Growth

  • Foster a positive, collaborative learning environment that supports student engagement, confidentiality, and professional standards.
  • Maintain accurate instructional records and meet all grading, reporting, and administrative deadlines.
  • Stay current with advances in nursing practice and simulation education through professional development, networking, and attainment of Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification within three years of hire.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Minimum of two years of recent clinical experience
  • Unrestricted nursing license to practice in Idaho
  • Evidence based knowledge of instructional process and education evaluation techniques relevant to simulation
  • One year of experience facilitating healthcare simulations
  • Knowledge of simulation operation equipment including simulators and standard audio-visual equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution
  • One-year previous teaching and clinical experience in critical care and/or medical surgical nursing.
  • One year of experience in healthcare simulation as an educator or simulation technician.
  • Certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
  • One year of teaching experience at the Community College level in a nursing program.

Additional Instructions for Applicants:

  • This position works evenings and/or weekends.
  • Successful candidates must reside in Idaho within a reasonable commuting distance from CWI.
  • Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
