Familiarity with telemetry systems, cardiac monitoring devices, and electronic health records is typically required. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and strong communication skills help you excel in high-stress surgical and critical care environments. CVT RNs often manage patients with complex needs following cardiovascular surgery, including monitoring for signs of infection, arrhythmias, or post-surgical complications. One challenge is recognizing subtle changes in patient condition and responding rapidly to prevent deterioration. Additionally, CVT RNs must balance technical skills with compassionate patient education, helping patients and families understand recovery expectations. Close collaboration with surgeons, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals is also essential for successful patient outcomes.
