Carolina Veterinary Specialists – Matthews, NC | PetVet Care Centers

We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or technician with equivalent surgical anesthesia experience to join our Surgery team.

Minimum requirement: 3–5+ years of hands-on surgical monitoring experience in a high-acuity environment.

This is an advanced surgery and anesthesia-focused role. Candidates must already be confident and competent in anesthesia monitoring and perioperative patient management.

What You'll Do
  • Full anesthesia management: induction, maintenance, and recovery monitoring
  • Continuous intraoperative anesthesia monitoring and intervention
  • Surgical assisting across elective, emergency, and specialty procedures
  • Advanced patient care including airway management, stabilization, and critical nursing support
  • Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, surgical prep, diagnostics, and lab sampling
  • Patient recovery monitoring, triage support, and discharge communication
  • Accurate and timely medical record documentation
Required Experience (RVT or Equivalent)
  • RVT preferred OR 3–5+ years equivalent surgical anesthesia monitoring experience required
  • Demonstrated competency in live surgical anesthesia monitoring (not observational experience)
  • Strong understanding of anesthetic pharmacology, physiology, and patient response to anesthesia
  • Experience with airway management, intubation, and perioperative support
  • Proficient in core technical skills: IV catheter placement, venipuncture, surgical prep, lab work
  • Ability to function independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment
