Job description

Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a CVOR Registered Nurse (RN) for a top-tier Level II Trauma Center in Winchester, VA.

This position plays a crucial role in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), supporting advanced surgical procedures and ensuring optimal patient outcomes through precision, safety, and compassionate care. The CVOR RN will serve as both circulating and scrub nurse when needed and will also be expected to float into non-cardiac specialties when not assigned to cardiac cases.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to cardiac surgery patients.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during all phases of surgery, assisting with positioning and sterile preparation.
  • Maintain strict aseptic technique and adherence to surgical protocols.
  • Manage and monitor surgical equipment (e.g., surgical beds, electrocautery units, suction devices, video systems, positioning devices).
  • Perform accurate surgical counts and handle specimens properly according to hospital standards.
  • Document all care and intraoperative details in the electronic medical record.
  • Scrub as needed to assist the surgeon with instruments, sutures, and supplies.
  • Float to non-cardiac operating rooms as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for RN peers and surgical team members.
