Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a Civil Engineer with 6+ years of aviation-related experience to join our Aviation team. This position is based in Honolulu, Hawaii, though we are also open to qualified applicants in other locations within the State of Hawaii.

The successful candidate will support a wide range of airside and landside design projects at commercial service and general aviation airports. You'll be working on projects ranging from runway and taxiway design to grading, drainage, utility coordination, and construction administration in a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support design tasks related to airfield infrastructure: runways, taxiways, aprons, pavement, grading, and stormwater systems.

  • Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents in compliance with FAA, state, and local standards.

  • Participate in the coordination of multidisciplinary teams, including subconsultants and internal design groups (structural, electrical, geotechnical).

  • Provide support during construction phases, including site visits, submittal reviews, and RFI responses.

  • Interface with clients, stakeholders, and permitting agencies to support project delivery.

  • Contribute to project management activities, including scope, schedule, and budget tracking under the direction of senior staff.

  • Assist in mentoring junior engineers and supporting their technical development.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline plus 6+ years of progressive civil engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6-12 months.

  • Previous experience working on airport projects (Part 139 airports, FAA-funded projects).

  • Familiarity with construction administration and QA/QC procedures .

  • Strong working knowledge of FAA design criteria and engineering standards.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D , Microsoft Office Suite, and standard design tools.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to travel periodically for client meetings and site visits.
