REPORTS TO: Director of Library Services
WORK SCHEDULE: Tuesday through Saturday 8:30am - 5:00pm
COMPENSATION: $38.30/hour + DOE + Benefits, Non-Exempt Regular Full-Time Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Director of Library Services, the Library Outreach and Program Coordinator will plan, develop, and facilitate programming and outreach services to youth and adult populations that best reflect the community, cultural diversity and needs of our community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee and maintain current library programs such as Summer Reading, weekly Storytimes, Crafternoon, and other programs as assigned. Plan, develop, organize and implement new library programs for children's, teens, family and Ilisagvik students, staff and faculty. Collaborate with community partners for programs and outreach.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with schools, community organizations, government agencies, and other groups to provide library outreach programs and services that meet community needs.
  • Works with Iแธทisaฤกvik marketing department to develop marketing materials to support programming needs.
  • Collaborate with Iแธทisaฤกvik College's Community Outreach Coordinator/Manager and Director of Indigenization on outreach programming needs.
  • Manage program budgets, collect and compile statistics for library programs and events, prepare reports, and keep records of activities.
  • Oversee and coordinate library facility room requests and maintain room reservation Outlook Calendar.
  • Assist in staffing the front desk and maintain library circulation activities which include: checking in and out patron library materials, assisting patrons with basic reference questions, answering the telephone, periodical check-ins, and check library e-mail, shelve library materials and maintain orderliness of collections, etc.
  • Assist with various library projects, which may include: inventory, weeding, sorting donations, patron account updates, etc.
  • Assist with collection development and maintenance including selection, acquisition and de-selection of library materials.
  • Assist the Copy Cataloger in processing incoming and out-going Alaska Library Catalog holds, and local processing of library materials as needed.
  • Engage in professional development training and library conferences, as requested.
  • Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Available to work Tuesday Through Saturday and one or more evenings per week.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills, public speaking skills as well as customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in project management, problem and data analysis, and planning; skills and experience in devising innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment, including working with various organizations and community partners.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children, teens and adults.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and internet research skills.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/EXPERIENCE [Required]:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children, teens and adults.
  • One year or more experience on program/project management, community engagement, or outreach.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • One year or more of library work experience.
  • One year or more of experience working with children, teens and adults.
  • Valid driver's license.

Life Insurance - Ilisagvik College offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000/per benefit.
