Job description

Position Purpose
The Customs Entry Writer opportunity is designed for a customs professional capable of facilitating an impact role with the PGL Customs Brokerage Team. The Customs Entry Writer will facilitate the preparation and submission of the documentation necessary for the clearance of goods through customs for PGL's most valued and dynamic customers.
Tasks
  • Review import and export documents, including invoices, packing lists, and other relevant paperwork, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and submit customs entries
  • Ensure that all shipments meet applicable customs laws and regulations, including those related to tariffs, duties, and trade restrictions.
  • Classify goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) codes.
  • Calculate the estimated customs duties and applicable taxes to be paid, based on the value and classification of the goods.
  • Coordinate communication to prevent or resolve any issues or delays related to customs clearance.
  • Create accurate and timely records of all customs entries and related documentation.

  • Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.

Education and Experience
Years of Experience: 1 - 3 Years of progressive experience facilitating customs clearance and compliance responsibilities.
Education: Industry related degree and/or certification
Knowledge
Transportation - Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
Law and Government - Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
Geography - Knowledge of principles and methods for describing the features of land, sea, and air masses, including their physical characteristics, locations, interrelationships, and distribution of plant, animal, and human life.
