Job description

Job Overview

The Relief Store Manager serves as acting Store Manager as needed to provide coverage for PTO, vacancies, or other absences. In this role, the Relief Manager assumes full responsibility for store operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and driving maximum sales and profitability. This position oversees merchandising, inventory management, expense control, human resources functions, and overall operating costs while maintaining company standards and compliance. The Relief Store Manager also supports daily operational procedures and partners with store leadership to ensure consistency, performance, and a positive team environment.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership coverage at FastLane Convenience Store locations as needed.
  • Support multi-store operations, performing functions across all convenience store roles to ensure operational continuity.
  • Drive sales and profitability by maintaining proper product mix, inventory levels, merchandising standards, and overall store presentation.
  • Achieve and maintain required store inspection standards, including a minimum Image Evaluation score of 85%.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable city, county, and state liquor regulations.
  • Oversee accurate financial operations, including sales posting, invoicing, pricing adjustments, shrink control, payroll management, and expense oversight.
  • Monitor and analyze business trends; implement strategies to maximize sales, control costs, and meet or exceed performance goals.
  • Lead scheduling and staffing efforts to ensure appropriate shift coverage and operational efficiency.
  • Train, coach, and develop store management and team members to strengthen performance and operational consistency.
  • Conduct competitive market analysis and recommend pricing or merchandising adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure proper handling and accounting of cash, money orders, and related financial transactions; promptly report significant discrepancies to the Area Manager.
  • Foster a culture of exceptional guest service by modeling professionalism, product knowledge, and consistent customer engagement standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience, Education & Training

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in retail, restaurant, grocery, or other service-related industries
  • Demonstrated ability to create and sustain a customer-focused culture
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
