Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our team. The primary function of an RMS Project Manager is to manage and track all phases of a project to ensure the finished product is delivered complete, on time and within budget. The Project Manager will communicate with the customer and all RMS disciplines in a timely manner the progress and requirements needed throughout the duration of the project. An electronic and paper project folder will be kept and maintained on each project.

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Commercial/ Sales:

  • Review and verify all paperwork handed over in the project kickoff meeting is correct and clearly identifies the responsibilities of RMS during the duration of the project and advise Commercial team of any and all discrepancies. Projects will coordinate with marketing/sales project changes, adders, duration and deliverables for customer consideration. Projects will include sales on pertinent communication with the customer.

Engineering

  • Review project scope and schedule engineering deliverables (drawings, inspections, work instructions, reports. etc.) required throughout the project. Interface and coordinate communications between the shop, customers and vendors.

Drafting

  • Develop drawing list and required dates with engineering and lead drafting person. Track drawing progress. Review drawings upon completion to determine RMS and Vendor requirements. Projects will write work orders or requisitions based on drawings and Work Instructions. Projects will assign material traceability numbers.

Purchasing

  • The project manager will be responsible for writing requisitions. The requisitions will include type of material, quantity, description, required date, budgeted cost, required documentation and certifications. Projects will assign the purchase order number. The requisition will be reviewed with purchasing to assure compliance with requirements. Projects will track the placement of the requisition through the purchase order phase up to delivery. Projects will assist in communications, when necessary, between vendor and RMS. Project will fill out cost impact forms when necessary.

RMS Shop

  • The project manager will be required to write all work orders and prepare work order documents based on drawing or work instruction requirements. The work order will include drawings, work instructions, material PO numbers, project number, standards and required date. Projects will track the progress of the work orders and help the shop determine project priorities. Projects will assist in communication between the shop, engineering, drafting, purchasing, vendors and the customer. Projects will prepare final shipping request form including list of items, job number, customer contact information, location, and determine party responsible for final shipping cost.

Accounting

  • Project manager will review project payment terms with accounting, prepare project invoice requests and help with supporting documentation when required. Projects will assist in the preparation and updating of the progress payment schedule. Projects will assist in the preparation of the quarterly percent complete report. The project manager will identify all billable shipping costs.

Customer

Upon receipt of the customer purchase order the project manager will contact the customer introducing himself or herself. The project manager will keep the customer informed of the project status based on the contract requirements or more often based on the needs of the project. Projects will review deliverables and invoices with the customer. Projects will coordinate communications, when necessary, between the customer and the various RMS disciplines. Projects will coordinate all customer witness and hold points during the duration of the project


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

General:

The above list of activities is not all-inclusive but a general representation of the requirements of the RMS Project Manager. This list is subject to changed based on the needs of the company.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience is required, preferably in manufacturing or with rotating equipment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The position may be based in RMS’s Houston, TX facility or based remotely.
  • This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on project needs.
  • This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
  • Ability to act professionally under stressful situations.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and background check
  • Able to understand, read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • RMS Inc. may have government contracts that impose specific requirements on employees working on those projects. If an employee does not meet these requirements, they may be reassigned to a different location or be ineligible to work on certain assignments.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may work / enter a shop or field service environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise.
