Job description

Job Title: Entry-Level Woodworking / Production Worker
Location: Stevensville, Michigan
Company: Carson Wood Specialties – Family-Owned & Operated

About Us:

We are a small, family-owned business specializing in high-quality woodworking. Carson Wood Specialties creates unique wood games, sells premium lumber, and provides custom woodworking services. Our team takes pride in producing exceptional products from start to finish, and we value quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

Position Overview:

We’re looking for an entry-level candidate (or someone with some experience) to join our woodworking team. The ideal candidate is motivated, dependable, and eager to learn. This position involves a variety of hands-on tasks, including operating woodworking equipment, assembling game components, and preparing orders for shipment. Most of the job will revolve around making wooden games.

This is a long-term opportunity for someone who wants to grow with our company. We provide on-the-job training where hard work and reliability are appreciated.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate woodworking machinery (training provided) including:

◦ 4-head molder

◦ CNC machine

◦ Laser cutter/engraver

• Assist in the production of custom woodworking projects and wood games.

• Assemble and count parts for game equipment sets.

• Create cardboard boxes, pack, and prepare wood games for shipping.

• Load and unload lumber shipments, occasionally working outdoors.

• Lift and handle long, heavy lumber safely and efficiently.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.

• Follow company policies regarding safety, tool use, and communication.

Workplace Expectations:

• Cell phone use is limited to breaks and lunchtime only.

• Earbuds or headphones are not permitted during work hours.

• Must be physically able to lift and move long, heavy lumber.

• Must be comfortable working outside at times (e.g., during loading/unloading).

• Must be detail-oriented when counting and assembling equipment/game sets.

• Expected to show up on time and ready to work

• Seeking someone interested in long-term employment, growing with the company, and be part of our team rather than just clocking in and out.

• Asking questions and wanting to learn is a way to grow with us

• Eventually be able to acknowledge what the next step is in game building, be able to set the equipment up accurately, and perform the job safely

Qualifications:

• No prior woodworking experience required—training provided.

• Basic familiarity with hand tools or woodworking is a plus.

• Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.

• Dependable, punctual, and hardworking.

• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.

• Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Benefits:

• 1 week paid vacation after 6 months

• 2 weeks paid vacation after 1 year

• 6 paid holidays annually

• Work schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday

• Pay starting at $16/hour (with increases based on experience and responsibility)

• Opportunity for long-term growth and advancement

Compensation:

Pay is based on experience and knowledge, with potential to grow as responsibilities increase. We're looking for someone who values stability and wants to be part of our team long-term.

How to Apply:

If you're ready to build a career in woodworking and become part of a team that values craftsmanship, reliability, and teamwork, we’d love to hear from you!
