Job description

Stella Construction & Home Services

Assistant Superintendent - Residential Remodeling & Custom Homes

Stella Construction & Home Services

Location: Metro-North & Greater Boston

Pay: $26 to $34/hour

Since 2008, Stella Construction has been the Metro-North area's leading expert in high-end renovations and custom home additions. We pride ourselves on treating every client like family and delivering exceptional quality on every project. When you join our team, you're part of a respected company that invests in its people. Our culture is built on teamwork, integrity, and a shared commitment to excellence.

About the Role

The Assistant Superintendent is our field coordinator. You'll help ensure every jobsite is clean, supplied, organized, and moving forward so our Project Managers and Superintendent can focus on managing the work.

This is a management-track position, not a trades position. You do not need to be a carpenter or own tools. We are looking for someone who is organized, reliable, notices issues early, follows through on tasks, and communicates problems before they become larger issues.

You'll spend much of your day moving between job sites, driving company vehicles, delivering materials, handling dumpsters and cleanouts, and walking active construction sites. Good judgment and follow-through are essential: you'll help determine what needs to happen next, make sure it happens, and document progress so the team knows where things stand.

Career Growth

This role is designed to provide a path toward Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, or Operations Manager positions. Stella Construction will provide training and support for OSHA, lead-safe certification, and the Construction Supervisor License. Candidates who demonstrate strong judgment, reliability, and follow-through can progress toward managing their own jobs.

What You'll Do
  • Own the condition of every active jobsite, keeping sites clean, safe, protected, and ready for clients
  • Manage punchlists by walking sites, documenting items, assigning work to the appropriate subcontractor, following up, and verifying completion
  • Manage the dumpster program across jobsites, including placement, swaps, permits, and disposal costs
  • Stage materials ahead of crews by reviewing schedules and anticipating material needs
  • Handle cleanouts and site cleanup during pre-construction, project progress, and pre-finish stages
  • Drive company vehicles, including vans, pickups, and 550/650-class trucks, to supply and service jobsites
  • Receive deliveries, verify materials, document damage, and coordinate returns and credits
  • Confirm subcontractors know where and when they need to be on site and what to expect
  • Keep JobTread current with daily notes and photos for each job
  • Support Project Managers and operations staff with coordination as needed
What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of experience in construction, field coordination, logistics, or a trade-adjacent role
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
  • Comfortable driving pickups, vans, and 550/650-class trucks
  • Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage tasks through completion
  • Comfortable using a phone and tablet for photos, logs, and scheduling software
  • Ability to communicate clearly with subcontractors, clients, inspectors, and neighbors
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, including regularly lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, occasionally handling heavier loads with assistance or equipment, standing and walking for a full shift, and working outdoors year-round
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

You do not need: carpentry skills, trade certifications, your own tools, or prior supervisory experience. We hire for judgment and reliability and provide training for the rest.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating trades, deliveries, or schedules in any industry
  • DOT medical card, current or obtainable
  • Trailer towing experience
  • OSHA 10 or 30
  • EPA/MA Lead-Safe Renovator (RRP) certification
  • MA Construction Supervisor License (CSL) or HIC registration
  • JobTread, BuilderTrend, or Procore experience
  • Conversational Spanish or Portuguese -- several of our subcontractor crews work primarily in these languages

No degree required.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $26 to $34/hour based on experience and certifications
  • Overtime at time-and-a-half for hours worked over 40 per week
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and Massachusetts earned sick time
  • Company vehicle and phone allowance
  • Consistent Monday-Friday schedule
  • Company-paid training for DOT medical card, OSHA 10/30, Lead-Safe Renovator (RRP), and Construction Supervisor License
  • Career path toward Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, or Operations Manager
Ready to Build with Us?

If you're organized, reliable, and looking for a path into construction management without starting in a trade role, we'd like to hear from you. Apply with a resume or a short note about your experience.
