Job description

As an Assembly Mechanic for SUN Automation, you will be required to fit and assemble components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, sketches, and knowledge of machine construction to build machines and equipment, utilizing hand tools and power tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze assembly blueprint and specifications manual and plans machine building operations.
  • Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Lay out hole locations and drills and taps holes on parts for assembly as needed.
  • Use a combination of hand and power tools to assemble components and fit prefabricated metal parts together to complete each build
  • Align components for assembly, manually or with hoist, and bolts, screws, dowels, welds, or rivets parts together, using hand tools, rivet gun, and other tools as necessary.
  • Work as part of a production team to successfully complete each building phase, as well as troubleshoot, repair, align, clean, and lubricate all fully assembled parts prior to shipping
  • Responsible for ensuring that all assembled components (wires, harnesses, gears, pumps, motors, etc.) are up to standard with internal quality regulations; any damaged products and/or components are either mended or replaced
  • Complying with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings and any other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble machinery and sub-assemblies.
  • Identify, select and properly use and care for basic hand power tools, pneumatic tools, specialty and stationary mechanical power tools
  • Ability to build custom machines from print
  • Understand production process flows
  • Able to regularly apply basic addition and fraction conversions
  • Perform work accurately and thoroughly; follow directions
  • Self-motivated with a high attention to detail
  • Understand cutting and working with different metal types
