Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories seeks a professional Facilities Maintenance Technician who has experience with methods, practices and equipment used in facilities management and activities including a variety of building trades work. Successful candidates will have expertise in performing preventative maintenance on buildings, including but not limited to; skilled electrical, painting, plumbing and mechanical work, door hardware, exit and emergency lighting. In addition, a high level of customer service, quality effort and building of respectful working relationships is expected in this role. This position is Monday - Friday on swing shift (2:00pm - 10:30pm) If you are looking for an opportunity to work with an experienced team for a growing company, then this position is for you!
As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, a typical day might include the following:
  • With minimal guidance execute facilities services and repairs of moderate complexity including custodial, furniture set-ups, moves, event set-ups, engravings, and grounds work.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; plan and perform routine maintenance.
  • Assist employees in routine duties, techniques, and department goals.
  • Perform basic repairs or equipment installations, painting, and small carpentry repairs.
  • Accurately complete all stocking, ordering, and custodial related duties and ensure the proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Coach and train employees in routine and technical duties, techniques, while working collaboratively to achieve department goals.
  • Follow and promote continuous improvement of workplace safety, environmental practices, area processes, and waste reduction opportunities.

This job might be for you if you:
  • Are able to independently operate custodial related equipment and use applicable chemicals, supplies, hand, and power tools.
  • Are able to perform basic repairs including carpentry, painting, and equipment installation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively and efficiently complete projects and tasks.
  • Can read, understand, follow, and strictly enforce safety procedures.
  • Have 4 years of experience in commercial facility maintenance and operations.
  • Have experience with maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:
  • Lift and maneuver 40 pounds frequently
  • Pull weight from high/low shelves
  • Ability to safely ascend and descend ladders
  • Reach, bend, grip, twist
  • Stand for at least 8 hours

Pay Range Data:
$23.93 - $35.36 per hour. New hires generally start at $24.00 per hour. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
