Job description

GAQ426R82

About the Role

As a Program Manager for Product Legal at Databricks, you will sit at the intersection of cutting-edge data/AI innovation, software engineering, and global compliance. Reporting directly to the Director & Assistant General Counsel, Product, you will act as the operational backbone for the Product Legal Program. Your primary mission is to support our Product Legal team as they advise Engineering and Product teams on compliance for our global software offerings.

This is a highly independent role designed for a self-starter who thrives on total accountability. You won't just track workstreams-you will own them. You will design Jira automations, route legal work, maintain critical metric dashboards, and leverage modern AI tools (such as Claude Code Genie Code, or Cursor) to proactively optimize and automate our workflows. If you are an operationally fierce, tech-forward program manager who loves keeping complex projects moving and holding teams accountable, we want to talk to you.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Own the Product Legal Program Execution: Act as the central driver, ensuring the program moves forward. Track compliance rollouts, monitor upcoming global legal and regulatory updates, manage workstreams, and keep cross-functional stakeholders accountable to deadlines.
  • Architect Smart Legal Operations & Routing: Oversee the routing and tracking of incoming legal requests. Build, maintain, and optimize Jira workflows and automations to intelligently assign tickets, reduce manual overhead, and ensure no legal review drops through the cracks.
  • Build & Upkeep Next-Gen AI Tooling: Partner with the team to help build, maintain, and deploy modern AI tools, agents, and prompts (leveraging frameworks like Claude Code, Cursor, and similar developer tools) to automate repetitive legal tasks and scale institutional knowledge.
  • Maintain Data-Driven Dashboards: Own the collection, upkeep, and analysis of core operational metrics. Build and maintain dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into ticket volumes, product review status, and compliance risks.
  • Scale Engineering & Product Advisory: Streamline how legal advice is delivered to software engineering and product teams, transforming complex legal requirements into repeatable project plans and automated guardrails.
  • Drive Proactive Continuous Improvement: Constantly audit the status quo. Identify operational bottlenecks and implement technical solutions or workflow adjustments to help the legal organization scale alongside Databricks' rapid growth.
What We Look For
  • Experience & Industry Context: Program management or paralegal experience within a fast-paced in-house technology company or a major technology-focused law firm. Familiarity with legal concepts and the software development lifecycle is highly valued.
  • Modern AI & Tech Literacy: Experience with or a strong desire to utilize advanced AI productivity and coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or prompt engineering for data/workflow analytics) and project tracking systems like JIRA to build and maintain operational infrastructure. Any coding experience is a plus.
  • Extreme Autonomy & Accountability: A proven track record of working with a high degree of independence. You are someone who proactively uncovers problems, designs solutions, and drives them to completion without needing micro-management.
  • Project & Compliance Management: Exceptional capability in handling project-based work, with a disciplined approach to tracking regulatory changes, rolling out compliance initiatives, and maintaining rigorous project schedules.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to confidently interface with senior legal counsel, push back on engineering/product timelines when necessary, and keep diverse teams aligned.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or equivalent practical operational experience.
