Job description
This position advances the work of two strategic initiatives: 1) Mentoring and Career Design (MCD) and 2) Fostering Respectful and Equitable Education (FREE). Both initiatives focus on improving the student experience and providing equitable experiences. MCD comprises mentorship and career design educational initiatives that contribute to institutional learner career and professional development; FREE comprises inclusive, anti-racist and trauma informed educational initiatives within the education mission that contribute to institutional educator development to support equity in education. The position's core responsibilities span across both initiatives while each initiative has specific programs and goals. The candidate will report to Mentorship and Career Design, while integrating with the Teaching and Learning Center and its relevant programming. This is a faculty position.
This position reports to (supervisor): Seth Igarta, EdD, Assistant Professor (Career & Professional Development Specialist)
Function/Duties of PositionThe duties of this position include:
- Develop, facilitate, and support educational programming, resources, and learning experiences using evidence-informed and inclusive educational practices. These may include workshops, presentations, trainings, office hours, drop-in sessions, and more.
- Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with OHSU schools, programs, and community partners to support this work and respond to emerging needs.
- Contribute to program administration, including communications, scheduling, participant support, program registration, data collection, maintaining historical records, using and maintaining associated educational technologies (managing LMS, websites, Teams, etc.), marketing, promotion, and other administrative tasks that ensure successful programs.
- Collaborate with student interns and student employees; could include mentoring, development, and supervision.
- Support program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, strategic planning, and reporting.
- Serve on committees as appropriate.
- Contribute to a culture of scholarship, service, and teaching.
Mentorship and Career Design-specific responsibilities
- Promote and provide quality mentorship and career education curriculum, programming, and initiatives within the education mission that contribute to learner development to support career and professional development.
- Coordinate and collaborate with strategic partners to develop Mentoring Up programming for students and trainees to strengthen mentoring competencies among OHSU learners.
- Partner with OHSU Foundation alumni relations unit to coordinate OHSU Greenhouse network programming, training, tracking, and support.
- Serve on Mentorship Academy Steering Committee and Career Development Workgroup
- Serve as additional support for educator success, joining Educator Success Grant (ESG) committee to increase capacity and effectiveness of educator support programs.
Foster Respectful and Equitable Education-specific responsibilities
- Promote and provide educator and future educator development activities that promote equitable, respectful, anti-racist, trauma-informed, and inclusive, and belonging-centered educational practices in diverse learning environments (e.g. classroom, clinical settings, simulation, research, and community-based education), including workshops and consultations that focus on cultural conversations, self-exploration, and intentional practice.
- Coordinate guest speaker engagement, including identifying potential speakers, scheduling, communication, and logistical support for F.R.E.E. educational offerings.
- Organize and support participant engagement activities, including certification orientation, book clubs, capstone support sessions, and other learning opportunities.
- Provide administrative and educational support to certification participants by responding to inquiries, assisting with certification requirements, coordinating consultations, and supporting participant progress throughout the program.
- Master's degree in education or related field; minimum of 5 years of related job experience, including a minimum of two years at the university level.
- Experience teaching in a university setting, including creating curriculum

- Skilled in the planning and coordination of meetings, seminars, and conferences
- Advanced technical knowledge of audio and video conferencing and experience working virtually
- Well-developed knowledge and skills in the development of technical procedures, systems, and forms necessary to complete work
- Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to work effectively with diverse public and internal constituencies
- Significant experience in effectively coordinating and communicating (orally and in writing) with faculty, staff and administrators across an organization
- Experience with teaching, scholarship, and service
- This is a hybrid position with two days minimum per week working on campus.
- This is a faculty position with salary in accordance with faculty unit rank and experience guidelines.
