The Cedars is looking for a full-time Cook to join our team!
Current full-time shifts: Day (6:00am - 2:00pm)

Position Overview:

The Cook is responsible for providing residents a high-quality dining experience by preparing a variety of foods from scratch ingredients according to The Cedars standards and expectations. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm with residents, staff, and guests.
  • Follows recipes and procedures as provided by Chef and/or Director.
  • Prepares all foods, which may include meat entrées, vegetarian entrées, vegan entrées, vegetables, and starches.
  • Meets serving time requirements.
  • Responsible for pre-preparation related to upcoming food demands.
  • Maintains food quality and appearance standards that meet customer and supervisor expectations.
  • Maintains proper sanitation guidelines as set by sanitation training, policies, and procedures.
  • Records and maintains production record book with accuracy.
  • Checks and records temperatures on all hot and cold items.
  • Ensures that all food is properly handled, wrapped, labeled, and dated.
  • Checks with supervisor before discarding any food products.
  • Respond to minor complaints in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Follows chain of command while addressing issues of concern
  • Stocks as needed.
  • Stores cleaning supplies separately and away from food preparation area.
  • Receive and appropriate respond to oral and written communications and direction.
  • Communicates and exhibits the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Communicate problems and ideas to management.  Bring solutions to your concerns.
 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic food service knowledge.  Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Spanish bi-lingual capabilities are a plus.
