Curbside information

What are some of the main challenges faced by curbside associates, and how can they be managed effectively?

Curbside associates often face challenges such as managing high volumes of orders during peak hours, ensuring order accuracy, and maintaining efficient communication with both customers and in-store teams. To manage these effectively, it's important to stay organized, follow established procedures for order assembly, and use communication tools provided by the employer to coordinate with team members. Developing strong multitasking skills and remaining adaptable during busy periods can also help associates provide excellent customer service and keep operations running smoothly.

What is a curbside?

Curbside jobs typically refer to positions where employees assist with the pickup or delivery of goods at a designated curbside location, often for retail or grocery stores. Workers in these roles are responsible for bringing orders out to customers' vehicles, checking order accuracy, and providing excellent customer service. Curbside jobs became especially popular due to the increased demand for contactless shopping experiences. These positions may also involve some inventory management and communication with both customers and store staff. Depending on the employer, curbside jobs can be part-time or full-time roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a curbside associate?

To thrive as a Curbside Associate, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic retail or customer service experience. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, mobile order management apps, and barcode scanners is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and a customer-focused attitude help you excel in fast-paced environments. These skills ensure efficient, accurate order fulfillment and a positive customer experience, which are crucial for store reputation and customer loyalty.

What does a curbside shopper do?

A curbside shopper is responsible for selecting and preparing online grocery or retail orders for customers. They typically work in stores or warehouses, using handheld devices or order lists to gather items efficiently and accurately for curbside pickup or delivery. Strong attention to detail and familiarity with store layouts or inventory systems are important skills for this role.
