Job Description Summary
DEPARTMENT: Performing Arts & Facilities (depending on event)
VENUE: The Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center (CPAC) at Cuesta College
Objective
Our primary goal is to create a safe and memorable experience for audience members, performers/presenters, and fellow technicians. All CPAC Staff are required to participate in training activities and to foster a positive learning environment for our students.
Broad Scope and Function
CPAC Box Office attendants will work under the supervision of the CPAC Supervisor and House Manager/Front-of-House-Facilitator (FOHF) to set up and operate equipment in the box office for live performances and presentations. Technicians should have a strong working knowledge of ticketing practices, customer support, and front-of-house etiquette.
Essential Functions & Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Ability to follow instruction and to work well with others.
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines and work at irregular hours.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and community members.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interface with the public prior to events at the CPAC.
  • Sell tickets on the phone and in-person one hour prior to performances.
  • Reconcile ticket sales and money collected at the end of the shift.
  • Have basic computer skills and ability to learn new computer programs.
  • Adhere to and be familiar with all CPAC policies and procedures, including ADA regulations.
  • Practice safe operation of all relevent theatrical systems and assist front-of-house with evacuation plan in the event of an emergency.
  • Create an atmosphere of mutual trust and support.
  • Work and communicate effectively with students of all skill levels, CPAC staff, external clients, and Cuesta College faculty and administrators.
  • Exhibit a helpful attitude toward all students, staff, and community members.

Additional Information
We are hiring multiple people at all technical skill levels; no experience required; rate commensurate with experience ($16.90-$18.31. CPAC employees will be scheduled on weekends and weeknights to accommodate the busy event schedule.
