Job description

We are currently looking for a Full Time Toddler Teacher to join our Area of Child Development team located at the Child Development Center - Ada South working 7:30AM-4:30PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.
Summary:
Manages toddler (13-35 months of age) classroom and provides quality childcare services in a secure, loving environment that promotes development for all children.
Responsibilities:
* Manages all components of the classroom including correspondence with all staff and parents
* Develop age appropriate classroom and lesson plans and assessments to ensure learning and development
- Responsible for the effective utilization of teacher assistants and allowing breaks throughout the day
- Responsible for creating interactive learning opportunities
* Analyze and provide guidance to children in the classroom ensuring skills of social interaction
- Compiles reports pertaining to children and meets with parents when needed
* Develop and maintain a portfolio for each child in the classroom to record milestones achieved and to be achieved
* Maintains inventory of all classroom materials and equipment
* Completes developmental observations screenings for all children enrolled in classroom
* Establishes and maintains teacher-child relationships including conversations to aid in development of communication skills
* Ensures all bedding is clean and sanitary at all times and diapers and clothing are changed promptly when wet or soiled
* Supervises the health, welfare and safety of children at all times including mealtimes, movement throughout the building and indoor play
* Maintains daily attendance reports
* Notifies supervisor for any inventory issues or necessary maintenance and repairs
* Delegates duties when absent from the classroom
* Provides an environment which will allow sufficient time to hold, cuddle, talk and sing to children while interacting and responding to each child, providing comfort and security
* Keeps the classroom and work areas neat and clean with classroom materials and toys inspected daily for potential hazards and ensuring toys are sorted daily and cleaned at least weekly
* Compiles all reports pertaining to children in classroom and meets with parents as needed
* Records milestones yet to be accomplished and coordinates with early intervention team to provide the appropriate learning for each child
* Attends all meetings, trainings and workshops as directed
* Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types

* Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities

- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics

* Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.
* Articulates, evaluates, and integrates development strategies for children in the classroom
* Ability to manage and redirect challenging behaviors in young children
* Responsible for creating interactive learning opportunities
* Oversees and effective utilization of teacher assistants in the classroom including daily schedules allowing for breaks throughout the day
* Obtains a minimum of 20 hours of early childhood training each year
* Performs all other duties as assigned

* Must obtain within 30 days of employment, promotion, or transfer date for CPR and First Aid Certification.
* Must complete within 30 days of employment, promotion, or transfer for FIRST AID Certificate.
* Must obtain Conscious Discipline, PAX Tools, ELG, Portfolio training, Brigance, HOPE and CDI within 120 days of employment, promotion, or transfer date
* Must complete Sleep Safe, Shaken Baby, and ELCCT within 10 days of employment, promotion, or transfer date.
* Obtain a minimum of 20 hours in early childhood training each year.
