Cuas Remote information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CUAS (Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Remote Operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CUAS Remote Operator, you need a solid understanding of surveillance, radar operations, and UAV detection, often supported by military or security-related training. Familiarity with CUAS technologies, detection software, and command-and-control systems is typically required, along with relevant certifications or clearances. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are vital soft skills for responding to evolving aerial threats and coordinating with security teams. These competencies are crucial for protecting critical assets and ensuring rapid, accurate decision-making in high-stakes environments.

What are CUAS Remote operators?

CUAS Remote operators are professionals who manage and operate Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS) remotely. Their primary role is to detect, identify, track, and, if necessary, mitigate unauthorized drone activity in restricted or sensitive areas. These operators use specialized software and hardware from a remote location to ensure airspace security and protect critical infrastructure. Their work is crucial for law enforcement, military, and private sector organizations concerned with drone threats.

What are some common challenges faced by CUAS Remote Operators and how can they be addressed?

CUAS (Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Remote Operators often face the challenge of staying updated with rapidly evolving drone technologies and tactics. They must also remain vigilant and responsive during high-pressure situations, as threats can emerge unexpectedly. Effective communication with security teams and continuous training on new systems are essential for success. Operators can overcome these challenges by participating in regular drills, staying current with industry developments, and fostering strong teamwork within their unit.

Job description

Position Summary
Support and grow North American defense, public safety, and airport security cUAS sales and BD, focusing on frontline opportunity development, customer engagement, and partner enablement. Work closely with the Senior cUAS Defense Sales & BD Manager to build pipeline, support capture efforts, and manage day-to-day opportunities for air and land-based cUAS solutions and related UAS offerings. This role is defense and security-centric and has a clear growth path into a more senior regional leadership position.
Core Responsibilities
Territory & Pipeline Development - Defense/Public Safety
  • Execute portions of the defense/public safety/airport security account and territory plans under the guidance of the Senior Manager.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of cUAS opportunities with:
    • Defense units, bases, and program offices.
    • Public safety agencies (state/local LE, tactical units, special operations, homeland security).
    • Airport operators and aviation security stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and contribute to regular pipeline and activity reporting.
Defense BD & Capture Support
  • Research and qualify new defense/public safety/airport security cUAS opportunities (pilots, trials, small buys, and larger programs).
  • Support capture efforts by gathering mission and threat requirements, contributing to solution concepts, and assisting with teaming and proposal inputs.
  • Help prepare RFP/RFI/OTA responses and pricing, ensuring alignment with defense/public safety operational needs.
Direct & Channel Sales Execution
  • Serve as day-to-day point of contact for selected defense/public safety/airport accounts and partners.
  • Support distributors, resellers, and system integrators focused on defense and security, provide product briefings, sales materials, and follow-up support.
  • Assist in closing smaller or tactical deals and support the Senior Manager on larger or strategic defense and public safety opportunities.
Customer Engagement & Technical Sales (Defense/Public Safety Focus)
  • Conduct live UAS and cUAS demonstrations, including routinely flying EagleNXT (eBee) drones for defense, public safety, and airport security customers.
  • Use EagleNXT (eBee) drones as both primary UAS products to be sold and as threat surrogates during cUAS demos and field trials.
  • Support planning and execution of field trials and POCs that showcase EagleNXT UAS together with cUAS capabilities in realistic defense and public safety scenarios.
  • Present capabilities and operational use cases to operators, security leads, and technical stakeholders.
  • Capture user feedback (e.g., threat scenarios, TTPs, operational constraints at bases and airports) and communicate it to product and engineering.
Internal Collaboration & Growth
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to align messaging and demos with defense/public safety/airport use cases.
  • Learn and progressively take on more responsibility for defense/public safety account ownership and capture activities.
  • Represent EagleNXT at relevant defense, public safety, and airport security conferences, demos, and industry days.
Required Qualifications
  • 2-4+ years of experience in defense, public safety, security, or related technology markets, ideally with exposure to cUAS, UAS, force protection, or surveillance.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cUAS employment and threats in:
    • Defense (base protection, convoy/FOB, deployed operations).
    • Public safety (tactical incidents, critical events, critical infrastructure).
    • Airport security (airspace, perimeter, regulatory/safety environment).
  • Experience with or strong familiarity with both air and land-based cUAS systems and UAS operations.
  • Practical experience flying small UAS or strong comfort learning to fly; FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate desired to support regular live demos of EagleNXT (eBee) drones.
  • Prior military, public safety, or security-industry experience strongly preferred (operations, intelligence, aviation, or tactical/technical roles).
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically (~25-40%) to defense installations, public safety agencies, airports, and events.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with defense/public safety/airport security customers in a sales, BD, or technical liaison role.
  • Familiarity with cUAS concepts (detect-identify-track-defeat), EW/RF basics, and UAS operational CONOPS.
Personal Attributes
  • Mission-driven and comfortable working with defense and public safety professionals in operational contexts.
  • Curious, coachable, and eager to deepen expertise in cUAS/UAS, particularly in defense, public safety, and airport security environments.
  • Customer-focused, resilient, and able to manage multiple opportunities concurrently.
  • Team-oriented, working closely with a senior leader while progressively taking on more ownership.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary with incentive/bonus tied to defense/public safety/airport cUAS sales and BD performance.
  • Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, etc.
  • Opportunity to grow into a senior defense and public safety cUAS sales/BD role at EagleNXT.
