Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Responsible for providing effective leadership and directing 24/7 operations of the main campus Sterile Processing Department (CSPD) to provide quality, efficient, cost-effective decontamination, sterilization, high level disinfection and distribution services with proper management of service utilization and inventory levels. Provides support for all 70 operating rooms, and procedural areas. Effectively manages daily production and distribution of over 150 case carts. Oversight over daily production of over 900 trays and >50 HLD endoscopes in a fast paced academic, multispecialty, level 1 trauma facility. CSPD services support over 430 transplant and >1000 robotic cases annually. The manager also oversees CSPD quality assurance and quality improvement team.
Responsibilities
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Ensures optimal sterile processing performance; through quality control and quality assurance of all Sterile Processing activities and equipment. Monitors and reports equipment operational status. Recommends equipment changes, upgrades and additions to meet manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU) for all items processed.
  • Assures departmental standards of operation and policies are in compliance with regulatory and professional agencies, including but not limited to CMS, TJC, AAMI,AORN, and infection prevention standards.
  • Manages 24/7 day to day operations of the department including daily decontamination, sterilization, and high-level disinfection of over 900 trays, 300 peel packs and 50 endoscopes (HLD), daily.
  • Supports clinics and procedural areas and collaborates with other departments to ensure the appropriate professional standards are consistently applied.
  • Is proficient in methods for sterilization and high-level disinfection and Provides decontamination and sterilization evaluation planning, operations and maintenance consultation to management at BJC organizations.
