Job description

The Legal Team provides legal and regulatory advice to ensure that all Crypto.com products and services are compliant per local regulations while also meeting the needs of Crypto.com customers.
The Legal Team interfaces externally with regulators and service providers in order to demonstrate compliance with applicable law and regulation for Crypto.com. This role will report to the Vice President, Capital Markets Legal in the US and will also work closely with the Legal Team in both APAC and the EU. The primary focus for this role will be to serve as the Legal Team's expert on the law and regulations applicable to the US and cross-border products offered by Crypto.com's CFTC-registered exchange, clearinghouse, futures commission merchant, introducing brokers and broker-dealer.
The Legal Team provides proactive and solution-oriented legal and regulatory advice and guidance to multiple stakeholders to enable the development and launch of Crypto.com products and services in a way that meets our obligations as well as the needs of our customers. Work cross-functionally to identify, analyze, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks (while maximizing commercial opportunities) related to the introduction of new products and services. Also represents Crypto.com on a variety of topics before regulators, financial partners, and other external audiences.
Responsibilities
  • You will be part of the Crypto.com Legal Team handling legal and regulatory matters for Crypto.com's CFTC and SEC registered businesses in the US.
  • Expertise in the following areas, including the interaction of these rules and regulations in both the US and on a cross-border basis, will be key for this role: CFTC Rules and Regulations, NFA Rules and Regulations, SEC Rules and Regulations, FINRA Rules and Regulations,
  • Focus on legal and regulatory matters involving a diverse range of financial instruments, including prediction markets, derivatives, tokenized securities and securities products and the extent of offering various products within these schema and the regulatory requirements of such financial instruments.
  • Assist business units with contract terms and conditions, related negotiations, and legal support of all aspects of business operations including licensing and data provisioning.
  • Assisting in drafting, reviewing and updating policies/procedures and terms and conditions and other rules related to the trading of various regulated products in the US.
  • Represent Crypto.com on a variety of topics with the CFTC, NFA, SEC, and FINRA.
  • Reviewing marketing and sales literature, presentations, and other educational materials for compliance with applicable CFTC, NFA, FINRA and SEC laws and regulations.
  • Work with external counsel to ensure our arrangements comply with relevant law and regulation in jurisdictions where we operate.

Requirements
  • Qualified/licensed lawyer with at least 3 to 5 years of experience in financial product legal and regulatory work handling issues for CFTC- and SEC-regulated clients in a major law firm or as a licensed entity (FCM, US Exchange, broker-dealer, prediction markets).
  • Excellent knowledge of US financial laws and regulatory structures and track record of maintaining licenses and building products and operations under these frameworks, as well as the cross-border interaction of these laws and regulatory structures.
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational/project management skills, ability to handle high volume and balance competing demands.
  • Ability to concisely and effectively communicate with business teams and management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Willingness to accommodate calls and meetings with different time zones when required.
  • Able to identify problems, issues and able to propose solutions.
